Classic Game Room HD reviews the Nintendo Wii CLASSIC CONTROLLER PRO video game controller accessory. The Nintendo Wii Classic Controller Pro is a reworking of the original Wii Classic Controller with more of a PS2 controller feel. In fact, held up to a standard Playstation 2 controller you'll see that they look remarkably similar. Both have hand grippy things, dual analog sticks and four buttons that are easily pressable on the front of the controller. The older Classic Controller has more of an SNES gamepad feel while the new one is slightly larger (because of the handles) and more comfortable in CGR's opinion. This controller is perfect for games like Capcom's Monster Hunter Tri and old school arcade shooters like Dead Moon and Biohazard Battle. This hardware review of the Nintendo Wii Classic Controller Pro reviews the Classic Controller Pro with HD video showing the piano gloss finish (which fingerprints easily) and details on the Wii accessory.

I finally got myself one of these suckers and I'm enjoying it so far. One thing I don't like re the control sticks, they're not bad, but they felt a bit too springy for their own good if that makes any sense, it took a bit of time to get used to, especially since the Nintendo controllers I've been using most lately have been the Wii U pro controller and the Gamecube controller. Still I like the build even if it is a little to light, but it's pretty comfortable. And as a personal note, it's a nice satisfyingly noisy controller which reminds me of the Gamecube controller, which is always a plus.

People say this is a Playstation controller clone. Let us be reminded that the Playstation was originally going to be the Nintendo Playstation. The original PS1's controller was a Nintendo controller. Sony just added the grips on the side but it is even identical to an SNES controller.

I actually like the eight-way Octagonal gate that's around the analog sticks, when you're playing overhead view RPGs or shooters it comes in handy to be able to just -sink- into a specific direction rather than wobbling inbetween Right and Diagonal Right.

This looks more upgraded over the original Classic Controller than I thought. The back side and shoulder button areas especially look nice. I might have to pick one of these up soon. :)

Bought mine in highschool (2006-2010) still works. One time, I came across a garage sale, and they had a few authentic wii classic controllers. Bought them, but turns out none of them work right, so they were sold on ebay. Mine, which was probably Bought in 2007, still worked, and are even a little yellowed.

@DokieOnMahCar I agree, the ps2 controller just fits so comfortably in your hands. I never once got confused about which button was where, the button layout was a no-brainer, and the analog sticks move so smoothly.

This controller is a blessing ! Thanks to it, I can play wii games on a PC with a PS3 controller :D I was having a headache trying to figure how to configure the pad to act like a standard wii remote :D

It's possible 1: He is emulating the game on a pc of some sort and then connect his gc controller to play it 2:He has homebrewed/softmodded his Wii and somehow made nsmbw compatible with the gc controller

I think the 360 controller is okay, but the battery compartment in the middle really cramps my hands, and in my experience they disconnect from the console all the time(I do realize that the wired controller fixes these issues). The Ps2 controller on the other hand may be a little small but it gets the job done, its just a matter of opinion. Personally for me PS4 and the original Xbox have the best controllers.

I have a PS2 and an XBOX 360, and I prefer my PS2's controller. I'm not saying the X360 controller isn't good, but the PS2 controller feels more natural in your hands. The only problem with the PS2 controller is that the analog sticks get tightened sometimes, but aside from that, I recommend using one.

Daniel Welch I like playstation controllers, but whenever there's an extended period of time between using one, the analog sticks always feel too low :/ Personally my favorite controller might be snes or ps1(without analogs)...but that's probably just nostalgia

I remember how important it felt to find something like this during the Wii/U days, because it just felt better to play some games with a classic style controller than a wii mote with a nunchuk. I wonder if anyone cares about something like this today, with the Switch being out and not being able to buy games online on Wii anymore.

Yesterday I went to trade in Geometry Wars Galaxies because the game is unplayable with the nunchucks. I only played about 2 minutes before giving up. Luckily they had the classic controller in store and I've spent 4 hours on this game today. YEAAAAAHHHH

I saw an image of the 3ds and wiiU controller scaled to actual size. I measured it. The buttons on WiiU are indeed larger than 3DS! The Wii U buttons seem to be exactly the same size as the 1 + 2 buttons on the Wii Remote (which are about 1/4th bigger than the 3ds ones. Also the Wii U sports a noticeably larger DPad with slightly larger circle pads in comparison to 3DS. Good news! (Assuming they don't change it)

The piano black finish makes it even closer to the PlayStation, the PS3 surface is the same. I better like the white without the handle. The OnLive controller is textured as well, looks really nice!

I brought this recently to play Xenoblade Chronicles. It's light, it's comfortable, the analog sticks have a good feel and response to them... and basically, you can't really go wrong with the DualShock layout, especially with the know-how of Nintendo as opposed to some third party alternative. Just the same, I'd rather have gotten the Classic Controller for $10 less, but they don't seem to have them in stores anymore.

i play COD on my xbox 360 and my friend plays it on his wii. i have both systems but he only has the one and he loves playing black ops on xbox cuz of the great controller. and i was tired of watching him play with the wii zapper so for his birthday i got him the black classic controller PRO black.. and he absolutely loves it and the sexy black color. its really cool and we both love it and now i dont mind playing CoD at his house

I have just bought a new classic controller, for when i have friends comming, and for the old Wii games. Cheaper than the new Pro, and it supports the old Wii games (which Wii u also support) :)

Just from looking at it, the handles are the same structure of the nunchuck accessory. Also, the base is exactly the same as the original classic controller, except the L2-R2 Like buttons are placed in the PS2's positions.
