Brooklyn Brothers Cooking - Papa P & Chef Dom

2 жыл бұрын

The Brooklyn Brothers share their Italian Zeppole recipe, just like the ones you eat at an Italian Feast. We will show you how to make Zeppole, which is so easy to prepare. You will absolutely love these sweet and pillowy fried zeppole!
Back in 2021, Chef Dom and I visited Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Italian Feast located in the very heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Here, you will find yourself totally intoxicated by the aromas of various Italian foods permeating throughout the air of the streets. Many people line up in droves for these feast favorites, from Sausage and pepper heroes to fried Zeppole, which are in fact our two top choices. In my opinion, zeppole is the most popular here at the feast. Most people are unaware of these fried phenomena of total bliss smothered in powdered sugar and served in a modest brown paper bag. In the past, we were very disappointed of only getting to enjoy Zeppole once a year, until now, where we figured out the perfect recipe.
Happy Cooking!

I find your recipes so easy to follow. It's a pleasure to watch your channel. I make my zeppoles with no sugar in the dough and I sprinkle them with a little bit of salt at the end instead of powdered sugar. I make them in the shape of a doughnut. That's how my Nona made them (I'm 78 years old) and I still make them every Christmas Eve for the 'Night of the Seven Fishes'. Growing up my Nona lived with us and when she made them she would hand me one that was still hot and she would say 'Soffio' to me (which means 'Blow' in Italian) because they were still hot. I was a very young boy and I interpreted it to 'SCHOOSH' and to this day we still call the zeppoles 'SCHOOSH'. I love your mom. She raised two good boys. Thanks again for such a HAPPY channel.

Honey 🍯 can be substituted for sugar both in dissolving (feeding) yeast in warm water (so dough rise faster) and dunking zeppole in 🍯 is a healthier sweet alternative. I’m going to try the No sweetener in dough (leave to rise overnight), & salt for a savory taste. 🙏😋

I love that you included "The Lift" in this! Back in Queens, my elementary school did a fantastic feast/carnival every spring. We would go for the zeppoles after dinner. They were in a brown paper bag, caked on confections sugar, soaking the bag through with oil.... And they were marvelous!! I'll need to try your recipe out! Now, I'll need sausage and peppers today!

I can't wait to make these. I'm from Flushing Queens but spent a better part of my life in Manhattan. You knew where the best Zeppoles came from and it was usually at a pizzeria at the window. Walking down the street with a greasy brown paper bag, powder all over your face and shirt. Mmmm, hot a fresh! I'll be making these for my son. Thank you for the recipe. BTW you made my son want to start making bread, he's 13 with Autism and had no desire to learn how to cook until he saw your prosciutto bread video. Now I have a new KitchenAid mixer and all kinds of baking gear on the way. From one Italian to the next bless you both!

Do you keep checking on the oil so it doesn't get to hot?
@BrooklynBrothersCooking
@BrooklynBrothersCooking Жыл бұрын
We only check on the temperature when we make a large batch of them. Typically once the oil reaches its desired temperature, you’re good to go.

La tua é una ricetta moderna, le zeppole anticamente venivano fatte al sud italia con semola rimacinata di grano duro e patata cotta e schiacciata, comunque complimenti per la realizzazione

Olive oil burns quickly. For deep frying, it’s best to use vegetable,canola or peanut oil.

No Sugar!! What is with you Americans and sugar and seed oil???? Cane sugar and seed oil didn't exist. We don't use this kind of things for fried dough. Olive oil, pizza dough, sauce that's it
