I'm assuming yes to both questions.. but I couldn't find the answer on TCPs website, my car has a 351W, I ordered the 600# springs as well as the drop pivot shaft for the UCA.. but I was gonna call TCP this coming week to see if they recommend something else I wanted to talk to your contact there, Carl, so I can be sure I get someone knowledgeable as well as drop your name to make sure you get the credit for selling me on their products. I've finally been driving this car with the power rack and pinion from TCP and am thrilled with it. I put a flow adjustment valve on it but run it at full so far with great results. In my opinion, there is no need to go manual unless it's a drag only car.

autoedit Definitely Jason. If you want to go light weight the 351 Windsor would be the way to go right? There was a guy in my neighborhood back when I was in High School that had a Maverick, hey a Maverick, with a 351 Windsor and it was pretty darn fast. :) Whatever you end up with I'm sure it'll be awesome. -Drew

It'd be cool to see the rear end from the current generation mustang, they're really good, especially for a live axle. Maybe he could get his hands on the IRS off of a mustang cobra or something. That's be really fun.

Jack Begley At this moment...I'm still planning on keeping a leaf spring based rear suspension to keep the build simple...but I have some ideas of how to really maximize that technology and make awesome so stay tuned!

autoedit I saw the column in Powerblock magazine where you wrote about finding it, and saw the article where you pulled the engine. In it, they said there would be follow-on articles about the crate motor install, and the suspension mods, but I haven't been able to find them. Did you ever do them? Also, how did you get it to pass smog after the engine swap? I really enjoy the things you do. Very unique. I don't think I've ever seen a 71-73 Mustang project, for example.

Brian Kueser That's an easy one! Mustang II is old technology that only works a little better than the stock stuff...the TCP kit is actually a grouping of high performance parts that were designed to be easy to install (as you can see in the video) and add TONS of strength and capability to the car! Good luck on your project!!! 69 is my dream Mustang.

@@Googs5 I got the Aldan American coil over front system. Double adjustable. Big improvement over stock suspension. I am able to make tight turns at high speeds now = fun! And the lowered front looks aggressive!

Those are classic symptoms of an air flow problem . Check that the fan clutch still works. With engine off(no really) spin the blade hard it should at most make one turn. Much more than that and its to loose to drive the fan t low speeds. In theory at about 30mph on a car with an open forward grill there is enough ram air flow to cool the engine. Also check that there is some sort of lip right under the rad. this will prevent air from recirculating when stopped at idle. Air goes thru rad gets heated then gets pulled forward and goes thru again . do the math hot air plus hot air equals over heat.. if it were the other way around cool at low speeds hot at fast that's a water flow problem . Rusted away impeller on the pump, wrong pulley turns it to slow, plug up rad core, collapsing rad hose, T-stat not fully open,ect...

The stock outer braces work and TCP makes a really cool monte carlo bar and strut tower brace system.

On this install it was very close at full droop on jack stands but sitting at ride height was good. I ended up using a flap disc to clearance the sway bar the slightest bit to make room but I'm not sure it needed it once the vehicle was sitting on the ground.

@@michaelcavazos8821 An angle grinder with a flap disc with sand paper instead of a stone grinding wheel. That way I can take a very small amount of material off.

autoedit Looks fancy! and solid! The thought that i had though, was the entire rear end pretty much, of maybe a newer mustang. Find a wrecked Mustang with front end damage, someone selling parts off one or something, and get rear suspension. But i also see that Total COntrol ya linked to, sells rear coilover kits as well, so maybe that axle and that kit then? or maybe you can get lucky and find a newer mustang rear cheap?

I didn't know that! On my 82 Camaro I got the short ratio flaming river steering box and really loved the feel on that thing...glad to hear that if I go the steering box style I could get a great feel like that.

autoedit some more info: www.hemmings.com/mus/stories/2007/09/01/hmn_feature21.html Quick ratio boxes were used on many different vehicles, but the IROC (and Trans Am with 16" wheels) used a high effort 12.7 to 1 ratio box (about 2.5 turns lock to lock)……..vastly superior to the factory mustang box. I'm not sure what would be required to connect this box to your factory pump as these boxes use metric threads for the lines. When doing this swap on a first gen camaro, I used the adapter kit from Lee Manufacturing ( lee-powersteering.com/rebuild-misc.htm) to connect the lines…... these folks KNOW steering…...I'm sure they could walk you through the conversion and get you the parts needed. Good luck

Trae Wallace I'm not a jeep person, I'm not familiar with the "jeep mod", so I can't answer your question. I do know that some jeep steering boxes will swap too, just not sure which ones. The IROC box is both quick ratio and high effort (approximately 2.5 turns lock to lock)…….the improvement is dramatic over a standard ratio/effort box. I stumbled across the info I posted above when I was doing the "IROC steering box swap" on a first gen camaro…..it just so happens that my son and I are doing a 73 mustang convertible project too. We haven't done the steering box swap on his car, but it will be part of the project.

Looks great and lots of adjust-ability but sadly I've never driven the car so otherwise... don't know.

I absolutely love the supercharged 5.4 engine! I did an interview with Caroll Shelby 3 years ago and he said that was his favorite engine from Ford...That was the engine in the Super Snake I got to drive and they boosted it to 750 BHP with stock internals and a warranty!!! Are those 4 piston calipers? That sounds like an inexpensive way to go but for how hard I want to use this thing...I wonder if they are stout enough.

on the Crown vic only on the police inter but you do get a bigger rotor but on the gt I think the 2000 yr all have 4 piston plus look into a gt independent rear they bolt into late model fox bodys and should bolt up to your car with few mod. that would give you disk on all for corners look at some of the guys running mustangs in the SCCA in you area they can help you with the tips and tricks to get your car to stop fast and cheap...........
