Awesome. I have triangle paper but haven’t tried to use it yet so this helps especially with the stitch length because I wasn’t sure. Thanks a bunch!!

Definitely have to try the Triangles-on-a-Roll. Was avoiding them due to the removal part, but you made it look so easy Kimberly.

The quilt is lovely with the blue and white. Triangle paper makes it sooooo much easier.

Hi....save time...by clipping the dog-ears before you press them open...then you only have to cut 2 per piece rather than 4.

I haven't used this particular paper, but, I've used moda's 10" ones for layer cakes. I love love love this paper idea. So accurate and my brain smiles when I use them.

Trim your points before you press open the half-square triangles. That way you cut time in half on that part of the technique.

Thanks for this tutorial, Kimberley! That fabric line looks great. (I have heard that pressing seams open leaves the seam weaker, and could split open after it's been quilted and finished (with regular use of the quilt). A seam pressed to one side is much less likely to split open. Just a tip from other quilters.)

Kimberly, Do you use a separate rotary cutter for the triangle paper since it is with paper and just fabric? Kimberly K.

Hello! In this video we used our normal rotary cutter since we were also cutting through fabric and wanted a sharp cut, but if you're worried about your rotary cutter getting dull then you can absolutely have one dedicated to cutting the triangle paper.

This is a beautiful pattern, Kimberly. Is there a version of it that does not require using the triangle paper? I'm a newer quilter and was just wondering...thanks!

You don't have to use triangle paper....Just find from the pattern how big the Half Square Triangles need to be, finished, and start with squares that are an inch bigger. For 2 1/2" finished HST's, start with 3 1/2' squares and then trim to 3 inches...they will then be 2 1/2 inches when you seam them.

@@cathytaylor1203 You're welcome. There are tutorials for making HST's if you are unsure. Some say start with squares that are 7/8's bigger, but you have to have very accurate sewing to do that, so, inch bigger is better.

you can make 1/2 square triangles 8 at a time. square them up and put them together.

Hello Kimberly. Why are you pressing seam to one side then open them. What the point ? You can save time by pressing them open in the first time . Thank you

Hi Elena, Kimberly finds her seams come out more accurate this way since by pressing to one side first she is "setting" the seam, then presses open and the seams doesn't get distorted. Of course you are welcome to just press your seams open right away, this is just Kimberly's preference.

I have downloaded the paid full pattern, purchased the stated required yardage, cut out the HST units and have oodles of fabric over and above the required amount, upon studying the pattern closer, the yardage is stated the same regardless of size of quilt, ie: over eight yards for each size - I believe this to be an error in the pattern for the HST/pattern yardage can you please clarify.

Hello CUD! We include extra fabric in the kits we cut in our warehouse. There's not a mistake in the pattern, you just cut accurately.

Do you find that your fabric stretches using steam?

Hello Janet! No, Kimberly has not found that her fabric stretches with steam. The other times that her fabric is stretching is when cutting on bias which is normal using steam or not.
