Hey Volks!
Recently picked up this Classic 1967 VW Ruby Red Bug in CT. This is a beautiful example of a ’67! The bug was restored by another owner, but she came out awesome. Body off restoration, completely resealed pan, all new front end, brakes, hardware, mechanicals, tranny, motor, etc. This is a “Get In and Go” bug.
This bug is a numbers matching body and pan, but the motor is a later 1600dp with an upgraded Cam and “Big Bore” piston and cylinder kit, she has great pep!
Brand new interior provided by wolfsburgwest.com, all the correct ’67 look and stitch to compliment the exterior.
Pop’s and I have gone through the bug in and out, we have fixed the lil electrical gremlins and tuned the motor, all is working beautifully now. This is not a concourse VW, but a great high end show driver. Take her to a cruise night or go out for ice cream, she is bound to turn heads.

My Dad had a VW and I got to drive it. On a snow covered winter road, they were a blast. The milage was probably the best in history, far surpassing American cars. Their only drawback was an accident with anything larget than a canary could be fatal.

safety is 90% in the head of the driver. yes, you do not want to get into an accident anytime. as far as the bugs, they are not meant for long highway trips. i would say 60 or so mile trips are in their range. around town, sure. they are a specialized bag to maintain and use in a comfortable manner. you really have to like them or it is a 1000 times better (and cheaper) to use another american vintage style. best.

‘67 first year Of 12 v electrics as well...I believe. I had a ‘67 in high school back in ‘77...sadly rolled it whilst racing another beetle....didn’t see that curve. Walked away with nary a scratch. Beautiful example you have there! Perhaps some day there may be an after market company re-producing ‘67 Beetles again.

That by far as the best camera work I've seen on any of your videos or any videos on Volkswagens! that I've seen!. Very detailed work on your presentation!.. I own a 1979 Super Beetle convertible and I don't know if I should part with I've done all the work to her body work carpeting and primer Windows Etc. had her since 1998...

a whole other bag that 1979 super beatle. one thing we all know is the bug engine was outmoded by the time they wanted pollution controls. just was not right for that. water cooling was 100% neccesary to stabilize the heat changes in the motors.

what was interesting here for me was the price. i watch different "restoration" type videos but never the pricing. when i saw the price here i thought, man that would be my estimate -- knowing nothing. anything less than that would be impossible in the restoration process. it has to be worth this much and someone with the inclination for this -- actually the most famous bug year -- would be very very happy to pay this. very very nice restoration.

67' bugs had trouble with door locks, one year model only doors, make it hard 2 replace, but still best lines. Also replacing a 1500 with a 1600 is perfection. 👍✌🖖

Exactly like my old ‘67 (right down to the flared exhaust tips) except mine was white with a black interior. I owned it from 1970-1973 when I totaled it 🤮 I so loved that car!

After market 1967 front fenders not only have a different oval horn grille position, but slightly higher headlight position as well, and are noticeably thinner metal compared to original German. Brazilian and Mexican replacement fenders also have a "D" shaped hole for the turn signal wire boots opening as compared to a 1/3'4" circular opening at top of a German fender. Also, whomever put in the headliner went the extra labor to install the correct, original VW style "Window frame" or "Window box" headliner with the framing around the rear window. The salesman actually knows a few things about a very important year Beetle, the classic 1967 Bug! He failed to mention a couple impotent points, however, such as the 1967 Beetle iconic reverse lights and near as bad, the 1967 only, tapered rear overrider bars (because of the one-year-only deck lid shape to clear the bars. Deck lid changed in 1967 due to new 1500cc engine..

I had a 69' bug ,had great improved jaguar type suspension, could take a corner big time,but the seats & tail lights sucked in comfort & looks, but can be replaced with 67' taillights & rear fenders & 67' low back seats 2 look more like a 67' bug much better 👍👍

Could be legal issues. Many many VW aftermarket parts are off in some way to the originals.

This car was sold a few years ago for around 18k. With todays market, and watching what bugs are doing lately, this car would bring 20-25k today. Staying stock always keeps value up, the small mods on this did not deter it, you can always go back if need be.

When I had my ‘67 I was aware that after market a/c was available as a unit that sat behind the rear seat. Can’t imagine that it worked very well with the limited horsepower. Wondering if anyone had experience with this add-on.

It's not always about being pure. It's also not a car I restored, and it also did not go for the restored pure price. If people want to pay less, there will be descrepencies.

Has incorrect 1968 and later door-lock knobs. 1967, first year for the one-year-only door-lock knobs. Door handles samein 1966 and 1967 as were the flat hubcaps. Not only is the horn-grille position different in an after-market 1967 fender, the turn-signal / parking-light and headlight position is also slightly different, with the headlight being just slightly higher, which makes the car look wall-eyed if one original German and one after-market fender are used.

Pssst....you missed the rear bumper. Not right for '67. The inner over riders were angled slightly downward. This one is good for '66 and earlier.

Correct. The rear, "Blade" type bumper (as opposed to the 1968 "Channel" type) is correct for 1967. The non-tapered over-rider bars are 66 and earlier. The hood handle is also incorrect, die-cast aftermarket. The 67 hood handle is one-year-only, stamped stainless-steel similar in construction the the 1967, one-year-only door handles. Deck lid latch is a dealer optional locking type, generally and preferably matched to the door and ignition "K" profile locks and key. The dealer optional glove-box push-button lock did not use the "K" profile lock. The "Ruby" paint is also incorrect factory color for 1967. Otherwise, it's a nice example of a 1967 Beetle.
