The things that were just considered "good, hard fouls" are things that would not only get players thrown out of the game, but suspended for the next game. Like the time Dennis Rodman threw Pippen head first into the stanchion, something that could have broke his neck. The fact that he wasn't thrown out of the game just shows how rough the game was back then.

Real easy lane to the basket. When you know that you might end up with an injury, those wide open lanes aren't as straight forward a decision as they first appear.

MVP awards are like the Oscars, the most deserving rarely ever win. It's all about politics. I don't look at MVP's as serious awards for that reason. The league ignored Jordan and focused on Magic and Bird because they were bringing in the most money at the time. When it looked like Jordan was becoming the face of the league, that's when they decided to give him MVP's. It's all politics.

Joshua James - this was the year they won for the first time and before the championship, MJ and the Bulls had something to prove. No scoring title winner had won a championship income early days of Kareem 20 years earlier. The media questioned if a scorer like him could win it all and so he had the Bulls made sacrifices to win that first title. No drinking, no partying etc. They had also been physically beat up by this Championship Bad Boys team for the past two years in the ECF and they had something to prove. So winning the MVP was incredibly gratifying to a guy that had been incredible from his very first day but was on a terrible team early on - and he was desperate to prove that not only was e as great as Magic and Bird but that he was better - not only as an individual player but as a leader that could create a dynasty like they did - with significantly less help than they had. Definitely an emotional moment it was.

Defense was trash. All they were doing was holding, grabbing and pushing. MJ was way too strong and fast for that and would easily get to his spots. If they weren't so lazy and played solid defense maybe they could beat him to his spots.

The NBA changed the rules in 1991 and the Triangle Offense is what got them over the hump.

The Bulls were the first championship team I ever saw in person. Being from Detroit, I actually went to my first Bulls game in Chicago before I went to my first Detroit Tigers game.

The only one shooter Jordan trusted early on.

His biggest asset along with his shooting was his ability to find a spot where MJ could always dish to him after breaking down the defense when drawing all the double and triple teams he faced. Paxson was such an awesome streaky shooter - in the '91 playoffs, he was monstrous shooting over 50% and making bucket after bucket in the last two games especially. He obviously made the big shot in the '93 Finals game 6. He had a much bigger impact on the team since he started than lets say Kerr in the second three-peat. But because of Kerr's success as a coach today and his high shooting percentage from point territory, many of today overrate him as some major piece in Chicago. Kerr was actually just a small role player in a backup role.

I'm from Chicago and watched every second of those games and followed everything said and written about the two teams during that era. Was a Bulls fan, but those Pistons teams were tough as nails. I knew it then, but have only come to appreciate and respect them more as time goes by.

They were a great team, they helped mold Jordan into an unstoppable force. Props to the Pistons, they were true champions and deserve their rings.

Not dirty just within the rules at the time which allowed physical play. In, 1991 the NBA changed the rules and the Triangle Offense is what helped the Bulls finally beat a very good Detroit team that made 3 straight Finals and won back to back championships and OH they beat the Bulls in the playoffs 4 straight years too, not bad for a "worst" team as you put it.
