The vocals are really the only impressive part of the song. The rest of it was just.. predictable I believe other musicians said? I'll have to go back and rewatch the reaction. In fact I'm surprised it was included in this list because it kind of fell in the category that Eclipse did where it was a song carried vocally but the music itself was just.. not bad but.. predictable like I said? I'm Lip biased too and even I'm saying Eclipse without the vocals is pretty boring lmao. Haseul does a great job on that track but unfortunately that's basically the only impressive part on that solo. Same with Lip's.

StrawberryCola kimlip and jinsoul’s songs aren’t as interesting instrumentally. Not that it makes them less good, but the reactors wouldn’t have much to say. OEC’s b sides would be better for a reaction.

Sab I mean apart from that, if they want a better perspective of the group in its entirety, or like to understand loona generally in the context of the looniverse it’d be good to see other members too.

Kpopalypse's review of "New": The song has only four chords, and these are Am, Dm, Bb, F - this never changes. The backing becomes louder and softer, rhythm and melody are given greater or less emphasis, but the harmony is completely static. So using traditional music theory functional harmony which would determine the start of the four-chord sequence as the root of the song, that would translate to i-iv-bII-VI… which mathematically means the song is tonally in “A phrygian” mode? The melody fits this as well, however the song doesn’t even remotely have the flamenco-esque “modal” sound that is present in obvious phrygian-raised-3rd pieces such as Dick Dale & The Del Tones’ “Misirlou” or any number of thrash metal guitar solos. So if it’s not phrygian, what is it - minor or major? Perhaps the Am is an anacrusis (or hangover from the end of the previous four) and the Dm is the start of the sequence, meaning that in functional harmony the song is i-vi-III-v, but that doesn’t quite fit either, the song’s melody has a joyous sound which is much more in keeping with major tonality than minor. Now if we’re talking major scales, then this would mean that the true chord progression is iii-vi-IV-I, so in other words the root chord or the “home base” of the song is the F major which is the last chord in the sequence of four chords. I can’t think of another example off the top of my head in any commercial pop music anywhere that fucks with a four chord structure in this way by making you wait for the key harmony for the first three chords (I’m not talking about intros, I’m talking about simple chords in the body of the song). As a result, because the song takes that fucking long to resolve (a three chord wait before the root chord hits for the first time is an eternity in any pop song sequence, let alone one where those four chords are literally all there is) the song constantly feels like it’s on a forward journey. This harmonic movement actually forms the conceptual basis of the song itself which is then also manifested further by the churning rhythms, a melody that also rarely resolves by skating around the root more often than not, and also is then reflected lyrically as well as thematically with the music video. “New” actually surprised me by genuinely living up to its name and being a new, fresh sound - there simply isn’t another k-pop song remotely like this anywhere right now.

I'm going to tl;dr it for you but Kevin already listened to all the songs and posted his reactions. Basically out of all those songs listed the only one he found interesting from what I remember was "one way" and that the rest were basically meh. Or that he just liked them but they didn't really blow him away. I'd have to find the post again but it's on his Twitter. It was before ot12.

ARE WE NOT GONNA TALK HOW THEY APPRECIATED HYUNJIN'S ONE? like, no offense to Haseul but Hyunjin's vocal and mv are both underrated, I'm really happy to see some love towards that beautiful song. She completely deserves it after half fandom slept on her solo song, and then she didn't have much screen time in their debut or lines in ++, so I feel like she's even more underrated than Haseul (because we all know the power of her vocals, but only a few people appreciates Hyunjin's soft voice)

Because even though Haseul's voice is gorgeous that doesn't make the song suddenly not less boring. It's just a predictable song. It's not a bad song it's just boring. You know where it's going to go. I believe every reactor has had this comment about the song. Even ones not on this channel. In fact I posted this in another comment but I'm Lip biased. Eclipse and Let Me In were both songs that were pretty boring instrumentally but had vocals carry the song so I'm actually surprised Let Me In made this list at all.

Andrew Rose strangely i like let me in musically, but i think the vocal is not that impressive (haseul's voice is nice but not too impressive in Let Me In,just my opinion) 😅 it's funny how listeners have totally opposite view like this 😂
