Juan Diego Florez sounds and looks absolutely beautifully here even if there may be doubts whether he should sing the whole part of Duke in opera performances as his voice is believed by many to be too light and weak for the role. But this "Ella mi fu rapita" is simply thrilling! What a voice and what an extremely charming personality!

What I like about this guys voice is that it is "seamless" throughout it's range. No detectable "gear changes" indicating a bloody good technique. No heavy roles mate.

Molto elegante, bello il timbro e il fraseggio facile il canto in tutta la tessitura ma a mio parere il Duca di Mantova ha sicuramente un'altra pasta di voce e un altro modo di stabilire il suo possesso delle cose... per lui Gilda è una cosa... e il piglio è di colui a cui tutto si deve. La voce di questo bravissimo tenore è molto adatta per il repertorio precedente al Verdi romantico.

Even though he's best at Rossini, I think that the Duke of Mantua's arias (Verdi's lightest tenor role) are just fine for him in recital. He shouldn't do the whole opera, it would damage his voice, but for a short recital part La donna é mobile or Parmi Veder are absolutely singable for him.

El microfono es una maravilla, he visto a Juan Diego Florez en persona, es buen tenor, tiene buena tecnica, pero no es lo que ustedes estan oyendo aqui, el pasaggio y el leggato de Kraus es incomparable. Ademas opera con microfono no es opera.
