Human: During our evolution we defeated numerous apex predators to survive and one even adapted to us and is considered "man's best friend" to this day. Xenos: These humans are too dangerous! We must do something to stop them! Smart xenos: Wait one apex predator survived them by becoming their friend? We must do exactly that at once!

Worse we have some pretty nasty plants that can easily be poison or medicine. My favorite example is a pretty little ground cover flower; Bloodroot is a key ingredient for a lot of creamed and skin cleansers when processed properly (and usually the active compounds are diluted as hell), but if you even TOUCH the sap from the roots, the stem, even the petals: they cause rapid necrosis. As in if your wandering through the Canadian wilderness and step on one your fingers will rot after you touch the residue to take your shoe off- and by the time you get to the hospital your going to have gaping holes in your hand.

@@KlavierMenn Human: But that's getting ahead of ourselves. We have classified as many as 20 distinct extinction events, however most are fairly uninteresting. As such I shall simply list the "Big Five", a title which I imagine is fairly self explanatory, though if needed I can explain it? *Crickets save for two representatives trying to resuscitate a third who suffered a heart failure* Human: Excellent. So first we have the fairly ambiguous O-S Extinction, which occurred roughly 445 million years ago. We're still doing researching whether this was a result of global warming or cooling, however we are confident that the root cause was large amounts of volcanic activity and a lack of atmospheric oxygen. Over 87% of species went extinct, with most others suffering heavy losses. *Hyperventilating noises from one of the representatives* The second was technically several more minor extinction events back to back, called the Late Devonian extinctions, dating to between 372 and 359 million Earth years ago, the largest two of which killed at least 70% of all species. Causes unknown but almost exclusively targeted marine life. Number three is the P-T extinction event, or the Great Dying, dated to ~252 million years ago. I've already explained the mortality rate on this one, so we'll skip right to the cause. Again, this one's a bit contested, but it's believed to be the result of volcanic activity flooding the atmosphere with sulphur dioxide and carbon dioxide, resulting in the air becoming suffocating, the seas acidifying, and the temperature rapidly cooling then heating up, with a temporary destruction of our upper atmosphere leading to the world being bathed in elevated levels of ionizing radiation. *Vomiting from representatives* The next is the Tr-J extinction from 201 million years ago. The casualties on this one were fairly low at 70-75% of species going extinct. This was another one that was most likely caused by volcanic activity releasing larger amounts of toxic gases and rendering the planet barely habitable. And finally the K-Pg extinction of 66 million years ago. This is the one which we've studied the most. Now, don't worry if you're starting to get bored, while there is some indication of extreme volcanism during this period, it wouldn't have been sufficient to classify as one of the Big Five on its own if it was just that. No, what earnt it its place and 75% species mortality rate, was the impacting of a 10-15km wide asteroid with the planet surface, which vaporised a 180km diameter region of surface rock leaving a ring of rock dragged out of our planet's mantle by the force of impact, rapidly creating an impact winter, a period in which the sun is partially or fully obstructed by clouds of debris for several years, which resulted in most plants dying off, with oceans acidifying as the debris filled them. This is also the one which replaced the all the previous dominant clade with the one which we descended from...

I like the concept of the story, though it has a few things wrong. We are great apes and as such are most recently separated from chimpanzees, which are also great apes, not monkeys. Though it is, as I understand it, that great apes originated as monkeys. Secondly, we are not the only animals that sweat, various animals do. One example I know off the top of my head is horses. Though we absolutely did evolve to essentially run our prey to death. If I remember correctly, only one other species can do something like that. Or am I thinking we can run ourselves to death? That might be it. I believe horses and humans alone are capable of running until we simply die from the exhalation. Every other animals body will effectively shut down and force them to rest, which is how many predators get them. I do like the overall concept and story though!

We're the only true pursuit predators, running prey to exhaustion and subsequently death, though wolves are capable of doing a similarly effective job if seriously pushed to it (wolves will die of exhaustion before a human will, but usually out last most of their prey. Humans only die of starvation or hunger, not simply running for too long [because sweat])

That last line likely means that this is another universe where the humans made contact with aliens in another galaxy. Meaning that we're extragalactic.

Ah, the power creep strikes the R/HFY. Death world already implies that attempting to live there is expected to fail. Having an additional classification that is not simply uninhabitable is just silly. Additionally I would think that hell being a place of torment rather than unlivable, would actually be considered a more forgiving place than a death world. one wants to hurt you, the other wants to kill you. Well that's my thoughts on it anyways,. May the most angry of rodents be blessed by the rhythm that is algo.

If the Earth has a LONGER rotation period vs the Cavahr's homeworld, then 2.6 million earth years would be MORE than 2.6 million Cavahr's years.. Not less like noted in the story with 1.8 million years @13:40.

Theres a line between fanfiction and science fiction. He isnt parodying a prexisting hes making his own, but the crude and lack of science and technical understanding and terms leaves much to be desired. Id suspect the writer is relatively young, early twenties given that schooling now lacks what it did 10-15 years ago.

Would it not be having a shorter rotational period? If it takes earth longer to go around the sun then the aliens world, what we would call a year would be more, not less years from the perspective of these aliens.

Garden World, Peaceful World, Neutral World, Death World, and Hell World. That fits, since Earth was a Garden World till Humanity super launched it into a Hell World. How? That's a story connected to the Great Deluge. "I hope we don't screw this galaxy too much". That's an understatement. If any of us that read WH40K books, we know how to screw everything up. Also, Class 7 Hellworld? Yep, it fits. Because "Peace was never an option".

Here's my crackpot theory. The entirety of the Egghead arch has been themed around the pursuit of technology. Not future tech, but past tech. We know that devil fruits can be replicated, and that their are only one of each except the ones that have been replicated. We also know that there are different levels of fruits, with the highest being deity. It doesn't make sense to me that the elder stars ate devil fruits. Their entire thing is "We're better than you" why would they eat devil fruits like everyone else. The trash fruits that the others eat. Also we've never seen something like a magical circle before in one piece. Its been established, or so Oda left us to believe, that magic just isn't a thing in the world of one piece. So why do we see magic, and why in an arch devoted to technology? Isn't that contradictory? Unless you consider the old saying "Any sufficiently advance technology is indistinguishable from magic." We know that all of Vegapunks creations have been inferior coppies of things that existed long before. So taking this into consideration I'm thinking one of two things, either the power that the elder stars have is not a devil fruit at all, but something that the ancient civilization tried to replicate with devil fruits. OR all other devil fruits were just experiments that led up to the real devil fruits. The Yokai fruits. I'm thinking these aren't actual devil fruits as we know them, but a whole other classification, a whole other power level. I don't even think that they were fruits at all. I'm thinking that the closest thing to their type of power is the nika nika fruit. Perhaps they don't fall under any of the three classifications, (Logia, paramecia, zoan, but are a fourth classification, devil) They are the devil devil fruits model x. And Emu perhaps has the devil devil fruit model Satan. Caws you know, throwing arround the word satan was super popular when one piece started to be published. It was basically the name of the demon king in like every single manga and anime around. It just seems like the kinda thing Oda might do, a silly twist at the end of a super serious matter. Then again I do have a tendancy to drastically over think things. But I do think there is a reason that they didn't call it a devil fruit, and that he came out of the grownd as if he was a demon being summoned from hell instead of a normal transformation.
