Welcome to middle school and science! 8th grade has its challenges, but the kids are so interesting. They get sarcasm and jokes which is awesome.

@@teachinwithpositivity9745 Take each day with a grain of salt. Some days they hate you and some days they love you and it changes every day and sometimes minute to minute. Be a stable rock for them. They go through a lot of this age. This will be my 6th year teaching 8th grade. Marissa

Marissa Quarry Thank you so much for the advice. I would have to say 5th is almost like that....sometimes they loved me and others they didn’t want to look at me...,but in the end there was always tears at the end of the year and them not wanting to leave, so I guess that was a good thing! I appreciate this so much!

You might want to think about covering that teacher desk with black contact paper so it doesn't stand out as much then you put dry erase contact paper on the top so you could use it almost like a memo board. Also this k about putting it on the other side of the demo table, where you want to set up your chrome books. I also highly recommend getting neon dry erase markers for students to write on their black top tables. My high school students love that we do models, concept maps.and all.kinds of things on our lab tables. Excited to see how things go for you.

mhesterfsus Okay wow awesome!! Never though about the black contact paper!! I will definitely try that! The thought of chalk markers did cross my mind but I wasn’t sure if they would be into the idea! Thank you so much and yes keep the suggestions coming!

If they won’t let you use hot glue directly on the wall try painters tape first & put the hot glue on top of that. As a science teacher with a classroom similar to your room that’s what I did.

I love your video! I just subscribed! I am going to be a middle school science teacher too. This is my senior year and I am going into student teaching. Did you have to take the middle school science Praxis?

17hoot No i did not I am generally certified EC-8 so I can teach all subjects across grade levels

I’m an 8th grade science teacher as well and I did have to take the praxis. I did not come from a science background, so I was a little worried about the test however I just bought the study book and reviewed it heavily for a couple weeks and had no problem passing the first time. Good luck!
