Hey you guys! So glad to see you here and thanks for stopping by! Today is the day that we finally get to start decorating my classroom!!!! It has come such a long way, and I am really happy with how it's turning out.
I started inservice this week and have continued to decorate my classroom. I haven't been able to film a whole lot with all the people coming in and out, but I have made a lot of progress. I plan on next weeks video being a finished classroom tour. See you next Thursday!

You could call the big supply closet ‘The Room of Requirement’ as it’s where everything they require will be!

I think it’d be cool if you have the light strip to change the color each week to the point leaders for the houses. Also have you thought about changing the banners to hang lengthwise with the tables? It might help with visibility. Just my thoughts. 😅

I LOVE THAT IDEA SO MUCH! I will definitely be getting a light strip! And no, I honestly hadn't thought about that. That would help resolve the sight issue. I will try that one out too! Thank you so much Lauren!

You should use the entry way into your room platform 9 & 3/4 since it's the smallest space in your room and in the book it's also the start to your journey to Hogwarts so it's like the start of entering your ✨ magical ✨ room.

Looking great. Maybe for the bare corner you could bring those two bigger a chairs back in to put there with a little side table and lamp. That will add to your lighting for when you have the students come in with the lights off too. Create more comfy seating too.

A cool and on theme art project you could do in October is diy potions. So a true potions class. I know that there is at least a few videos for them. Most of the supplies you can get from Dollar tree.

Hi ashton I’m going to college this year and next year I’m going to back to college after i get a job and i told my teacher that i want to do student teaching for reading that’s my goal 😄

The black wall would look fabulous as a gallery wall. Just give it a coat of matte black paint. You can put up picture rails and hooks to display students art along with those beautiful pictures you showed us. That little corner you have with the chairs would look great with a couple of foot stools from five below and a colorful rag rug. If you can find some cheap old end tables and a coffee table to paint funky colors along with a cheap futon it would make a great calm area. Add a couple of macrame plant hangers and some art books on the coffee table. Maybe name the door Diagon Alley?

Your classroom looks great! My only suggestion is to find something to raise the house points on, the baskets cover the words a bit

I couldn't find any in stores!! It would be incredibly expensive for me to order enough to cover it right now, but maybe in the future! I subbed some decor in the meantime that you can see in todays video!

In that dusty outline of where shelving? Used to be on the black wall, you could do a brick paper and make an arch like the 9 3/4 pillar

I actually made a platform 9 3/4 by the classroom door! I just didn't have it done in time for this video.

If you do decide to go with a gallery wall, if you install strip lights, install both colored and black lights. This way, if you were using pastels or neon paints, Blacklight's will glow beautifully when showing off your students artwork. Also, making ng frames out of cardboard will give you a nice place to showcase your students artwork on the gallery wall.

What if you take the flags down and hang them on the black wall? I think the envelopes and candles would stand out more without them. The colored bins would let the kids know which house they are in. Love the theme!

The only reason I changed my mind on that idea is that the banners wouldn't be centered on the wall because of my common room area, and that bothers me 🤣
