Here in NYC....no coffee pots/Keurigs/refrigerators. I make green tea/bring lots of water and get through the day! You are inspiring! Thanks for always sharing great vlogs.

I work at a preschool and the creative art area is the most used space in the classroom :) For children who have issues “sharing” try telling them to “take turns”...I rarely use the word “sharing” because kids don’t want to share if they aren’t done using whatever it is they are using.... if you encourage to “take turns” and guide them to communicate with each other “you can use it WHEN IM DONE” or “WHEN IM DONE you can have a turn,” is more effective and teaches them patience and problem solving

We do it kind of the other way around in Finland and focus mostly on teaching social and emotional skills through play, art, music etc and bring more academics along the way as the kids grow older. :)

I'm so glad you chose to do centers. Even Albert Einstein said, "Play is the highest form of research." They learn so much when you allow them to initiate play and use their imagination. Super cool classroom!

I love your behavior chart! I look forward to that video. My school has a mandatory chart that’s similar, but would love to see more on your break down. I hardly use the one in our room.

It's nice to know that I'm not alone in having the intention of implementing or using something at the beginning of the year, and then not working out exactly how I'd planned! And I'm pretty sure my kids would destroy something if we had a Wii in the classroom and did competitions. They take that stuff pretty serious, haha. Side note: I recorded a quick classroom tour video yesterday afternoon as well. I hadn't done one yet, so I figured I would give it a go. It should be up on Tuesday if you want to check it out!

Hey, love your behavior chart. I use something similar in my 2nd-4th grade self contained class but we call it zones of regulation and it has 4 levels.

You should look into the characters called “dc super hero girls”!! There’s 9 of them so even just hanging up a photo of 1 alongside the male superheroes would be awesome for your little girls to see. ❤️

coming from not teacher, has any of your kids figured out that your groups do different things? how do you determine when a kid needs to be moved to another group? how often does it change?
