Danke al Piron nia lingvo plu diskoniĝis, kaj fariĝis pli "respetebla" lingvo laŭ okuloj de ne-esperantistoj. Li vivos en la historio de Esperanto. Longe. Ĉiam.

I am extremely pleased with finding this language. Strange to me that this language has been absent from my formal education. Better late than never. Many thanks for posting.

Esperanto, spoken as a second language in Europe sounds a great idea (to me). Language is surely one of the major factors in bringing people closer together and keeping people further separated when they can't communicate so easily.

This man is one of my "Esperanto heroes. I've read just about all of his books. He says truly important things in this video. But who in the world spelled his given name as "Clod"? It's Claude. Can the poster (Maksim Grishin) please fix this?

He says: "In Esperanto you can be yourself. In English non-natives have to try to imitate a foreign model knowing that they will never succeed perfectly". When millions and millions of people all over the world have to do this, it's unfair!

I wonder how he would respond to things such as the Ido reforms and other conlangs such as LFN and Interlingua.

***** You're slightly missing the point, which is to show that despite English having a dominance linked to world economic activity (with an unfair advantage to native English-speaking countries), the world is still not communicating on a level playing field. The billions raked in by TEFL etc has not produced a world of English competence and blocking people from the economy based upon English competence is tantamount to imperialism. You wrote: "Until Esperanto is more economically beneficial to learn than English, it will not become the lingua franca." It IS economically beneficial in terms of cost-effectiveness in speed of acquisition, time spent, money saved. Your perception is from the position of already existing English dominance, where no-one learns Esperanto (or other such language) because English has a perceived value because it dominates. There are other issues rather than straight-up business interactions that need clear discussion on an equal footing.

As far as I know, he never spoke or supported Ido (which is basically Esperanto "improved" by "experts"). A few of the reforms that created Ido were encorporated in Esperanto. Lots of people criticise Esperanto ('s vocabulary) for being too european. In this respect Ido, interlingua and LFN are far worse.

I would support Latin because it is the language of common European heritage, and even if it is difficult, it is not that difficult. It would only need some new words and it would be a plausible choice for common European language.
