I've had my Technics SL-1200GR for two years and it is a lovely piece of kit. Enjoy, brother. Btw, I love those Klipschs you have as well. I'm looking at those as my next and probably final upgrade.

Hey from Australia. As a club DJ of many years, I bought a brand new SL1200 MK 2 just because I wanted an original turntable from past.

Fantastic review! The original gr is better deal than the gr2. I have this deck, 1210gr made in japan - and like you said - it's phenomenal turntable. A serious endgame deck. Enjoy your music buddy!

from my past. It is fitted with an Ortofon black cartridge and it's wonderful.

Did you swap out phono cable, and what type phono preamp are you using? I tried a HANNA EL LO MC cart and was not impressed. Not 500 dollars impressed! Have a Ortophone in its place the basic red one till tomorrow Gonna try the NAGAOKA Cartridge MP Series - MP-200H Record Stylus with Head shell. I have the NAGAOKA 150 I have tried as well and its just ok. Noting to get excited about. I am thinking its got to be the cheap RCA cable they included.

Yes I did I bought a very good cable on eBay. Her is the link, www.ebay.com/itm/284933869542?var=586716820223. I like them sound very nice, also am running a Audio-Technica VM540ML I also like this cartridge very much, your mileage may vary. Thank You.

In the final analysis, do you think it's worth the money? I'm close to buying one, but will I need an upgraded preamp to compliment it?

Yes, if you are very much into vinyl records this table is very well worth the money it is very well built very solid table. It well be a one time purchase is the way to look at it. Thanks

@@Claudio-Martini Thanks for the advice. I've been thinking about purchasing it for months, and your review has swayed me! It's a lot of money, but hopefully will be the last turntable I ever buy. I have 1000s of vinyl records, so I can justify the purchase to myself. Thanks again. Best Wishes.
