Hey Chad, I am a marriage and family therapist that specializes in Christian counseling for those who have experienced severe trauma. I want you to know that your reaction is normal. I am sure you have heard that from others many times. But, wanted to be another to add to the validation. Trauma makes us do crazy things. We are all here praying for your healing and the rest of the family. It will not always feel this intense and at some point that hyper vigilance will decrease. Thank you for trusting all of us with what you and your family are going through!

Chad, you don’t owe an explanation for your feelings. What you lived through definitely qualifies for a diagnosis of PTSD. Remember the poem “Footprints in the Sand”. “When you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you”! The Lord is always present. God bless and prayers!!

Chad--What I know about surviving a trauma is that it gets hard wired in our bodies and triggers us to be hyper vigilant 24/7. What you are sharing makes perfect sense and I'm glad you have a therapist, the willingness to be vulnerable/real and share your experience with us! You are loved, appreciated, respected, and prayed for daily-as is your family:)Give yourself grace and be gentle with yourself!

I'm so sorry for what you have been through. I will be praying for you and your family 💞🙏🙏🙏🤗💖💞 You know when the Lord took my husband Home almost 10 years ago I got tired of saying that I lost my husband and I started thinking about it and I started thinking, I didn't lose him because I know exactly where he is. He is with our Savior Jesus Christ and with the Angels in heaven and there's no more pain. He is with his mom and dad and brothers and sisters and everyone who went before him. I felt the same way when the Lord took my mother Home also, yes I grieved, but I know that they are in a much better place. My husband had had 4 major strokes and the last 2 were a month apart and they brought on Parkinson's and Dementia and he had minor strokes also. He became locked inside a body that he could not move or speak or anything. But he still knew who his son and I was. In the end he was ready to go Home. I had told him that I know that we will be together again when the Lord is ready for me. I hope that this will help you some. I will definitely have you in my thoughts and prayers always. God Bless You and Your Family and Please ALWAYS REMEMBER TO ALWAYS RIDE WITH THE LORD EVERYONE.💞🙏🤗🙏💖💕

I know the feeling. I lost my one and only brother in 2017, he was the first born, he suffered from depression. Our father had a massive stroke in 2015, and after 12 months of serious rehab, ended up unable to walk, well his whole left hand side of his body was immobilized. He got himself an electric wheelchair and got around that way. Dad was put into a nursing home locally to me. My Mum took it very hard as they were so co-dependant, on a dairy farm all of their life until they retired, they did everthing together. Mum was diagnosed with dementia not too long after. I quit my job to take care of her until she too was moved into the nursing home with Dad. My sons at the time were 13 & 14 yr's old, my husband worked away alot, very stressful time. My Dad passed in May of 2021, 2 days after my younger sister's B'Day, Mum passed 23 days later on my B'Day. Then September last year, my older sister passed away (heart attack) a few days after our brothers birthdate. So now left is myself and younger sister! Everyone handles loss/grief differently, but with great support and time, it does get better. Very sad on festive occasions and birthdays, always remember your loved ones through great times and bad. Chad, hypervigilance IS part of the PTSD thing, I've been through it, the tapes from that experience will play over and over again, and again, and again, they will eventually and gradually fade. You will get through it, but you won't ever get over it, the trauma will lessen over time in years, events will set it off again and again. You will be ok. People who tell you to get over it or grow up have either no idea what PTSD entails or their experience has been entirely different.

I agree, lots of us could use therapy, and I do come to your channel to relax, laugh and learn and I am 68! I've survived through a house fire, a boat fire, and a tornado while camping on the mighty Columbia River, it took me 6 months to be able to look up at a tree and see those leaves moving in the breeze and not feel a panic well up inside. Sending prayers your way.

PTSD is very real. I've been living with a severe case of it since I was 14. I'm 50 now. I know some people can recover pretty well, but for some, like me, it is a lifelong debilitating illness. Give yourself what you need to recover. Don't try to be a hero and ignore your needs, we're all just human and we all need help sometimes, even if it's just self-help.

We are very excited for you all on your getting a Clayton Home. My husband and I ordered a Clayton home from a dealor in Medford, Oregon. We designed it exactly like we wanted it and they built it in Albany Oregon. (2010) It was wonderful! They were very easy to work with and we would highly recommend them. We had it installed on a 4 inch concrete slab with rebar and it of course had tie downs. We wanted easy access underneath the crawl space so we had the frame/axles and wheels removed. You may want to check on this as we heard they ususally leave them underneath. Our prayers are that you can get into your new home quickly and that the LORD JESUS CHRIST continues to protect and guide you.

My parents house burned down a week before Christmas 2021. A lady that lived across the street had a rent trailer which she let my parents stay in rent free. She had a restaurant where she feed them. They had to deal with the insurance which took a couple of months. Allstate insurance . I worked for Lowe's at the time. Lowe's main office gave my parents a check for $2000 , The store I worked at gave them another check for $1000 and the employees took up another $500. Then the manager told me to give them my employee discount card and everything they needed for the building of the new house they got my discount plus another 10% discount and the delivery was free. And every time they came into the store the store manager would go around with them. And he took them to lunch a few times.

Chad we understand what you are feeling. Keep talking about your feelings it helps alot. The fear you feel is real. It will get better. God is with you all the time. Your faith is strong. God bless you all. My Clayton home came from Georgia and it was cheaply built. Hopefully this one where you are. They just made a bunch of them for this mobile home lots here in Florida. Maybe that why they were built for cheap.

I've been praying for your family fervently. I love seeing all the animals and seeing how the run to you when you call. They have no clue they're different breeds, they just all get along. Humans could learn a lot from them. Love, hugs and prayers from a Great Grandma in Kansas

Lots and lots of self care for all of you….you’ve been through something horrible, our house burned when I was young and it still bothers me. It’s normal and talking about it is what you really should do. Stuffing things down inside is toxic. Much love to the fam!!

Thank you for the chuckle, too funny. Not sure how to spell woah! The way your herd turned their heads, in sync. I know that’s how you call them, started way back with beefy brothers…it just never gets old.

With time it will get better. What you went through was tragic, but God has your back and he is guiding you still. Your family and animals are safe. And I know they will stay safe in your faith, care and guidance. Keep your eyes on Jesus he will not let you down❤

You should get one of those used street sweeper brushes and make a scratching post for Tipsy she was loving the hay to rub her neck on. The dog has lost a lot of weight, looks good.

in 1979 my mom got a clayton home, double wide. My then hubby and I took over payments and in 2003 its where we lived when our daughter graduated college. We sold it and someone else lived in it for at least 10 years before I lost track of how things were, but there were no issues, seriously, none. No electrical, no floor sagging, not even any issues where they put the two sections together. Happy for you!

Hubby and I almost bought a Clayton home when we first got married until the bank told us these homes depreciate instead of appreciate. The bank's lawyer got us out of the contract because they had lied to us and told us because they were placed on a permanent foundation they were as good as a built home and would not depreciate. They were forced to give us back our deposit. Just FYI. The bank knew because they work with loaning on houses all day every day and knows what appreciates and what depreciates. That was over 30 years ago so who knows now but you can check with the Better Business Bureau or call some banks and ask to be sure.

Chad someone shared something with me when I was in a similar situation. They asked why I was letting the devil live rent free in my head. I decided that I would ask God to move in and move the devil out. Did it miraculously solve all my problems. NO but it did give me some peace and time to work thru them with God. YES. YOU do YOU and what ever helps with the sleepless nights for YOU do it! Just remember God brought you here and he will bring you out as well. I know you know all this sometimes we just need a gentle nudge to remember it. Praying for you all.

Chad it’s ok to cry, I seen my daddy cry a lot and it was over tragedy in our family, he lost our home by a fire when I was 3 years old, he lost a great grandson he was 16 months old, to a accident, he lost a granddaughter to a car accident, it didn’t make him less of a man, he was my hero, he passed away 2021, he was a Veteran that served in the army for many years. You are not a weak man, just shows your have a heart, hold your head up high❤❤❤

I still dread leaving my apartment and my dog in that apartment ever since the fire next door to me they just got the apartment repaired and going to have someone move into it soon. I have very mixed emotions because I almost lost my home my dog and my memories. It's been a year and a half and I still have trouble.

My wife and I recently discovered your channel and we love it! We find it positive and uplifting and we love watching you interact with the farm animals. I am a mental health counselor on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. I see 50 to 60 people a week, half of whom are veterans. An overwhelming majority are combat vets. PTSD has nothing to do with manliness or character. When you watch your life, as it were, go up in literal smoke, it is traumatic. No one, NO ONE is impervious to that. The people saying "man up" or "grow up" have not had the misfortune to experience such a disaster. I am an Army veteran myself and a survivor of hurricane Katrina. The eye of that storm went right over my house. As a therapist I'm glad there are people who have never had to see and experience the things I have in my life. For everyone else, a good therapist wouldn't hurt and might do some good. Thank you and your family for this channel and keep bringing the good stuff.
Maybe They'll Forgive Me For This One! (Plus a quick peacock update)
