This is the REAL kitchen nightmare....
The first volunteer is medical scientist Kris, 34, originally from Poland where he was brought up to clean the house from the age of 6.
Kris spends over 22 hours and uses two bottles of bleach spray a week keeping his 3 bedroom home in Wakefield germ-free.
Kris cleans his kitchen floor up to 5 times a day with a steamer and bleach and his two pug dogs are only allowed into the lounge after a bath. When friends come round they are constantly pleading with Kris to sit down and relax rather than clean, but he won’t.

@@gillianbrookwell1678 And to consider that she had a friend in to clean her mess a couple of months ago... - If I were that friend, I would be so upset seeing that she's done nothing at all to keep the place clean. And not liking the smell of dogs? Why have them, if you can't be bothered to take care of them so they won't stink up your house? - And that's coming from a person who isn't overly keen on cleaning either and who's always busy. Tip in keeping your house clean:everytime you get up from bed,do something before sitting back down. I love a clean fresh house and there are days when I'm just too lazy so I motivate myself by doing that. You get up,pick up one dress from the floor. You get up again,put that dress in the washer You get up again,fold that dress and put it in the wardrobe You get up,apply cleaning products to your toilet You get up to pee,scrub and flush and then pee This has really worked for me,in a day,you would have cleaned your home without getting tired because you broke it up in bits.

I had a elderly disabled widow friend, before her husband died in 2015 he would not let anyone into the house, due to his wife hoarding and the house had become dirty, 3 months before he died of cancer, he allowed myself & other people to come into the house, knowing that his wife would need looking after. He allowed me to de cluter & clean the house, as his wife needed carers x3 times a day, she slept in her recliner chair. Once he died she got a cleaner to come in once a week, but my friend would then ask me to check to see if she had cleaned correctly, especially as she was paying the cleaner £10.00 per hour. It would take me 1-2 hours to re-clean after the cleaner. I never got paid for it. I have health problems and a disability but I still have to have a clean home. The lady died 2 years ago.

Harsh truth. If you're a stay at home partner while the other works, it literally is your job to keep the house tidy, do general jobs like shopping and cooking, etc because that's your contribution. They pay the bills and work, you do the housework. That's always been the norm in such households through at least 100 years. Same in our house. My partner works, I am watching this as I cook his meals for tomorrow, prepare tonight's dinner, clean the dishes, etc. Kids should have some chores though. They need to learn how to run their own home in years to come and assist their parents by cleaning their messes and not adding to mess. Dishes in the sink, tidy away toys after use, etc.

I don't think she's lazy. She's demotivated. The hubby is super critical but adds so much to the clutter. The more he complains, the less she feels like cleaning and the more critical he becomes. It's a vicious cycle. Negativity breeds more negativity. They need to start appreciating each other more. It starts with the small things. Acknowledging the value that each brings to the relationship.

Considering that brits would be marinating in their own filth without Polish expats cleaning up after them, I've always thought it was a bit unfair to treat them like second class citizens in britain.

I was a maintenance worker a few years ago at a college and the students dorm rooms were disgusting! I went to deep clean two of the boys rooms after they left to prepare it for new students and found shaving foam half open and razors next to a cereal bowl of mouldy milk! The mess was God-awful 😱

I'm British and there are many things I hate about this country; but that's one of the biggest reasons I feel this way. The polish saved our country and lives but we don't learn about it in school, I only knew about it because my grandfather and mother taught me about it! Growing up the polish children in our school were treated terribly even by the teachers, but they were some of the nicest children I've ever met. They literally do all the jobs that most British people would never dare do, and all they care about is feeding and looking after their families. It pisses me tf off how so many British people behave towards them.

This is why my daughter has been helping round the house from a young age. I dont want her to end up living like a slob. She can make as much mess as she likes when she plays or does her art, but i expect her to tidy up after herself. Chris seems so sweet and i hope Natalie was much happier once her room was tidy

I have mysophobia and I do this, I spend over £200 a week on cleaning stuff and use 12-16 bottles of neat bleach a week alone. Ironically I’m also a nurse and surgeons wife and yes it is dangerous, however my condition is far stronger than my fear of dangers. I have a severe chronic pain condition and terminal illness anyway, I’ve been like this since 2015 after my sons death and nothing related to chemicals and cleaning had caused any of my medical issues, other than the time I scrubbed the floor and collapsed after major surgery because I didn’t rest.

The rowing couple: They're both blaming each other for their own failure. The back and forth of "I DO clean but you don't notice" when you know they're just expecting the other one to do it. Or someone else.... I know a couple just like this. The woman works full time , while he "looks after" their 5 children. That involves him taking the kids to school, then either painting his warhammer models or playing on his games console before picking them up again, complaining he doesn't get any ME time and expecting his lady to still cook, clean, shop, do laundry, sort lunches.....Oh and walk the 2 dogs.Their house is a tip, 5 kids takes a toll, but seriously I find it so hard to visit. I'm not the tidiest person inthe world, but their house really triggers my anxiety.
@eev14

That's not blaming each other.. That is weaponized incompetence from the men. I this case the wife is being blamed for the mess that is mainly hoarded stuff from her husband, he claims to do cleaning regularly and says SHE is lazy even though we can all tell he doesn't do anything. The wife however seems like a really nice person, staying cheerful around someone that is that negative and arrogant probably takes more energy than anyone is aware of. Paul is pissing everyone off but she is used to dealing with his horrible attitude, I wouldn't be surprised that if she started to do a lot of cleaning he wouldn't lift a finger to help her and still criticize her so she might feel that in a way it's futile to try and it's better to put energy into being positive.

That is not a happy relationship the wife said at the end "I think this will make our relationship better" then immediately closes her eyes, he says something else she nods her head and makes agreeable sounds, turns away and closes her eyes. There's something that she isn't willing to look at, she's also self soothing alot, rubbing her ear and her hand. I think he cheated in the past and she and him both have used territorial aggression because of the resentment between them. Whatever it is she doesn't like him at all.

I would gag and be extremely uncomfortable doing what those poor souls are doing, and they have an actual diagnosis. Jesus. Some of those households are vile and I would not step foot in there. Just having discovered these videos, I am binge watching them. One thing I take away with me is just how patient and non judgemental the ODD's are. I would have thought 'you big fat lazy slobs, get on with it'. The OCD's did not, instead they found a middle path, and with communication and empathy, the hoarders and the OCD's came together to improve both their lives. It would be interesting to do a follow-up programme to see where they are all at today.
