How to Clean Shower Glass Doors? If you have soap scum buildup or hard water stains on your shower glass it can be so frustrating to clean! This video shows you my favorite cleaning products to use, but it threw me because I used a different strength vinegar than I've used before.

DIY Shower Cleaner Recipe (Vinegar and Dawn Cleaner)
1/3 blue dawn
1/3 white vinegar
1/3 warm water
Equal parts Dawn, Vinegar and Water. So make as much as you need to clean your shower doors. 2 cups of each, 3 cups of each, etc. Let sit for a while if your shower has really hard to remove stains.

Clean shower glass and say goodbye to shower soap scum. I'm cleaning glass shower doors with vinegar and Dawn for an inexpensive and effective way to clean. Wear cleaning gloves and a mask if necessary. Open windows to air out. If the shower is really bad, take precautions to protect your health while getting all of that build up off your shower.

Awesome video! It looks great!! 👍 I am a housekeeper and use toilet bowl cleaner on a no scratch sponge or Dobie pad with water. Let it soak, do not let drips happen, has to be evenly spread. Then after 30-60 minutes when I am done with the rest of the bathroom I come back and scrub it down, then rinse and go with the magic eraser (HDX brand also works fine but have not preferred any other off brands) to feel any rough spots and buff them out, then rinse and clean with vinegar water solution or glass cleaner and microfiber. I just restored a 30 year old shower this way that had calcium and lime and rust build up for years. It was literally 1/2 in thick in some areas. The client was shocked it looks brand new!!! I try to limit chemicals but in this case it was way worse than the door and shower interior in this video. It was 5 shades lighter when I was finished and totally shiny, door was sparkling and crystal clear. With the right ingredients and some elbow grease wonderful things are possible😊 Also don't sleep on powder (not the liquid) Barkeepers Friend!!! Makes the faucets shine like new and can remove even the most stubborn buildup on anything. ✨️ 😎

Thank you for keeping it real. Some things are just beyond cleanable and that’s the truth. You can get them decent but never like new again. Hard water is terrible. I have a water softener and still get hard water stains. You’re a wonderful friend. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

I've been cleaning forever. You did a great job cleaning up . but the best way to clean the doors when they're that bad is car wax the paste you rub on. Make sure the doors are very dry rub on let it sit until it turns white and buff it off with a- rag. it works every time. But I enjoyed this video you are a hard worker and it takes muscle no matter what anybody says!

I used Turtle Wax- wiped it on- let it dry and used elbow grease to get it off-removed at least 95% of it!

I used the Pink Stuff puddy with vinegar and scrubbed with a blue scrubber. That worked the best for the almost permanent soap scum that was on my shower door

Thanks for the video. I bought the 30% vinegar , the finest steel wool. Used them with Dawn, Mr clean. Bar keeper’s friend and all other products I can find on the market but the stains are still there. I just want to cry. 😢

I love, love, love all of your videos! I love that they are in real time and unrehearsed, you talk right through even when you are out of breath! That’s real cleaning! I also feel I can come to you for the best methods of cleaning because I know you have tested so many. Thank you! One note, I would prefer the videos with no music. Especially playing while you are talking, I find it distracting and a bit annoying. Just my opinion. 🤷‍♀️

My favorite is to really test different ways to clean and products. I’m searching for what works. What I found is everything is different. And sometimes a method that works on one surface doesn’t work on all of them. But thank you, that means a lot. I’m very determined. The only time I want music is when I’m showing sped up and the sound won’t match the movement. Then it’s just dead space and people complained (we do read almost every comment and if we can improve, we try to). People do comment about being out of breath. Part of it is it can be a workout. Other times I’m trying to talk too fast for my brain or I get nervous. Yes even after 4 years of making videos! This is one of those comments I screenshot and read again. I appreciate your thoughtfulness!

You can't scratch glass with metal unless it is a hardened steel like a file. This is due to its hardness being lower than that of glass. So any steel wool will be fine to use

The steel wool makes sense because a magic eraser did *nothing* on this surface, and normally they work great!

Soap is actually basic, Vinegar is acetic acid which is why it breaks down the hard water deposits (Calcium Carbonate) so spraying soap before you use the acid actually weakens the acids strength causing it to take longer and work less effectively.

One recommendation please, please In the future get you and good 1/2 mask 3 m ( works good ) respirator and cartridges when for those projects the mask your were using will not protect you in that application

Use CLR applied with a paint brush. Than use a 2 gal hand pump sprayer to wash off. It will cut your cleaning time in half.

For water stains, CLR works great. BUT be careful with fumes. More than products listed here. Other products also do a terrific job for calcium deposits from water that only vinegar here helps remove.

same vinegar + Dawn and fine pumice stone = done - the Dawn assures glass will not be scratched - do no use on plastic

It's not clear to me when/how you added the vinegar. Did you spray it over the Dawn Powerwash or did you spray it directly onto the green scrubber? When you say, "I'm going to let this sit" (at 2:30) are you just talking about the Dawn Powerwash and for how long? Thanks.

I added the vinegar to the shower door and walls and let it sit. Then I added the Dawn Powerwash at the end. I wish I could let the vinegar mixture sit longer or even with paper towels or toilet paper to keep it from drying out. It needs time to dissolve the soap scum. I like using a steam cleaner better...

Agree, video is confusing, did you mix the two products in the dawn bottle? it appears you sprayed the dawn alone first, but didn't show when you added vinegar?? please clarify, you stated it differently in your response below.

What acidity is regular vinegar vs clean vinegar? Can you use regular? You can use those pads to scrub?

Regular is only about 2.5% and the cleaning vinegar I have is 30%. Yes regular vinegar works. Cleaning vinegar needs to be diluted for most cleaning jobs. Test on a place you can't see. Every shower and material is different.

use a drill adaptor. its non scratch and no work. put the disc on the drill and let it do the work

I haven't cleaned my tub or shower in years! And they look like new! How often do you clean soap scum from the inside of your dish washer? How about from inside your washing machine? Correct, never. The best way to clean soap scum is never get it in the first place. Chunk all your bath soap and only use liquid soap. The main ingredient in bar soap is Sodium tallowate. Sodium tallowate is a true soap made by combining the fatty tissue (or tallow) of animals, such as cattle and sheep, with lye, typically sodium hydroxide". It's pure white animal fat that holds the soap in a clump. It sticks to the tile or tub and water will not run over it. Sits there and the water evaporates and leaves mineral deposits on the fat. Repeat a few times and you have "soap scum". Liquid soap or "detergent" holds oily skin residue in suspension and it washes everything away when you rinse. Just like your clothes or dish washer. Also an added benefit is that your drains will never clog up!!

My husband will only use bar soap. I know that is the culprit. He never squeegees. I was very ill with my liver and my shower never got cleaned. I am still trying to get it back and that was 2 years ago

Steel wool on aluminum bad idea.. will scratch.. used WD40 and towel cloth on aluminum and on bad spots uses crumpled aluminum foil....-with out WD40..

Put towels under to catch it and use a cup with water. Or just use a wet cloth and keep rinsing it.

You do not need to do all this work. Pour dawn soap and vinegar into a bowl. Heat up in the microwave for 2 mins. Pour into a spray bottle with a funnel and spray the whole shower with it. Let sit for 1 hour and since with warm water. Everything will be crystal clear. These ladies way are way too much scrubbing and work. Work smart mot hard.

We try methods so many people repeat work. They're popular but they don't usually show something actually being cleaned. Many times it's not as easy as it looks. Every surface is different. We have videos of things that work well and fast. A stove cleaning video, a mattress video. We're not cleaning things that are already clean, so sometimes, because it's live, it's a bit more work than we thought. So we keep it real.

It just comes down to scrubbing. They fast forward through it. But if she wasn't scrubbing the chemicals would make no difference.

Tried all this. Did not work. Even used a Car polisher with a cutting compound. Still no luck. used steel wool 0000 and 000 still no luck. Can still always see Hard Water Stains in sunlight.

Sounds like they might be etched into the glass. Sometimes after years of build up nothing will remove it.

I have well water in my new house. I was able to take ALL the hard water mineral deposits off with a 5-6 inch blade. I then used Bar Keepers Friend with 0000 fine steel wool No scratches. My shower doors r over 20 yrs old and look BRAND new super clear! I maintain them by using a pumice stone every 3 months as needed. The pumice stone does not cause any scratches either. When I initially moved in I couldn’t see through my glass doors the mineral deposits were so thick they came off in chunks with the blade it was absolutely disgusting. I squeegee my shower walls after every use. I keep a hanging squeegee in my shower. I don’t do much else to maintain. I tried the strongest vinegar and everything under the sun nothing worked except the blade, Bar Keepers Friend, pumice stone and fine steel wool. Again, I have absolutely NO scratches on my glass doors. My neighbor thought I had replaced my whole walk in shower. It looks brand new. Crystal clear. 🌸🌸🌸

I like that you actually clean in real time but between you moving around with a face mask on, in and out...some of your words were lost. You don't need the (sorry) super annoying music cover which was distracting to your voice.
