Once I'm done washing I use a few ounces of 95% ethanol (grain alcohol) to rinse it. It is relatively non-toxic so you can dump it anywhere it will evaporate. Then I tilt the can up at 45° with the cap opening down to dry. The ethanol only leaves a few drops that can easily be mopped up through the cap opening. Another option instead of Seafoam is to use fresh gasoline to flush out the sediment. I dump the gas with sediment through a coffee filter in a funnel back into a separate clean can. No waste, no toxic disposal. When you fill the can put in some Isoheet in case you missed a few drops of water.

Use Ice instead of anything metal as a scraper. Depending on the tank, may not be able to get every metal item out. As for drying the tank from water washing (if you use soap & water), just let it sit open overnight in an indoor location after draining all the water you can. Yes isopropyl alcohol works well to get water out & it will speed up drying of any water left.

I think, I would of used , Dawn dish detergent and flush it with water several times and let dry or use the Stihl blower to force remaining water out. I wouldn't spend $8.00 on sea foam. It would Probably leave a oily residue. But, I liked the video! 👍 Thanks

I'd clean the inside of this and my plastic gas cans by using a pressure washer. No chemicals needed. I keep them clean and only need to do this when I buy a used one thats been poorly cared for.

Strong detergents like Dawn plus warm water is way better than seafoam. Seafoam is mostly just pale oil, so it is unclear what you think you’re doing by adding seafoam. There’s no way you got all the water out without “ragging” it. Wrap a rag on a folded up coat hanger and wipe away...Also, if you read any owners manual every manufacturer of portable engines recommends cleaning with detergent and water.

Oil is actually becoming a pretty common cleaner as it's gentle but still very effective. Eye makeup (specifically liner and mascara) is one of the hardest things to get off because a lot of times it is waterproof and the skin around the eyes is so sensitive. Eye makeup remover is just essentially baby oil and fragrance and it will take it off in 1 wipe. Also, it is very possible to remove all water without wiping it down. Not sure where you got that information from. -a chemistry teacher

@@whitcassie Makeup? Chemistry? Uh, Sure leave the cap off and diffusion will dry that tank between 3 days and 3 years depending on how much water is there, and when Outboards run on makeup, I’ll consider makeup remover at that time. As I said, read any outboard manual and see what the engineers recommend for tank cleaning. Also, if you are a chemistry teacher you should pull the MSDS for seafoam. The drying agent is actually isopropanol not pale oil. You’d be better off drying the tank (after detergent and water) by pouring in an 80 cent bottle of 99% from dollar store-A physics teacher….

@@yamahajapan5351 Can you read? I never said anything about anything being used to dry. I said oil can be used as an effective cleaner, which it can. I just said it is possible for something to be dried without being wiped with a towel. I never said makeup remover should be used for anything in this case. Next time maybe read twice, and check your ego and sexism before jumping to...whatever that was.

@@whitcassie Ego, Sexism? You need to check yourself. Assuming only women wear makeup makes YOU the sexist. Getting butthurt because you embarrassed yourself with your “chemistry teacher “ crack is YOUR egoism hoss. A real adult would be chastised and move forward, but you have to preen like a typical teenager….You were shown up…deal with it “teacher”

@@whitcassie And another thing, if you think pale oil is a better non-polar solvent than gasoline, I suspect you are either a fake teacher or a sorry one, I bet money you don’t even know the difference do ya “teacher”…what a dork

how did you dry it?
@insanitycarnival272 жыл бұрын
Let it sit in the sun and blew in some air from the compressor. It's dries quick

i am disappointed wanted to see the stuff you cleaned out with the seafoam poured in a glass jar

That would have been good! Thanks for the feedback.
