Try this method for 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐬 and non-stick cookware in 3 minutes with no scrubbing, vinegar, or baking soda. You won't be disappointed! Before you go searching for - 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐛𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐨𝐝𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐫, know that nobody tells the amount of effort required. Yes, you can clean ceramic pots and pans with baking soda and vinegar, but it is not your best option! At least for me, it has only worked half the time, and that is why I was searching for a better way of cleaning ceramic pans. Like on my video about how to Clean a Glass Top Stove or Cooktop - • Cleaning Glass Top Sto... I have found that WD-40 does an excellent job cleaning ceramic pans with minimum effort, no scrubbing, vinegar, or baking soda. The no scrubbing part has to do with the Dremel Versa, a rechargeable high-speed cleaning tool I purchased a while back to polish some dry lovebug marks I had in the nose of the SUV.
The Dremel Versa can help you conquer the toughest dirt, scum, and spot removal on materials like glass, tile, ceramics, wood, stainless steel, and more. It is available in many big box stores, including Home Depot, Lowe's, and Ace Hardware.
If you want to order it online here is a link to AMAZON - amzn.to/2VP5wJl
𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐨𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐖𝐃-𝟒𝟎 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐥 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚
Be aware that depending on how badly you burn your pots and pans, this procedure may take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. No, I don't mean scrubbing for 15 minutes to an hour like cleaning ceramic pans with baking soda and vinegar but rather per-time. The actual time of cleaning the pans is like 2-3 minutes. If you are not familiar with WD-40, the name is abbreviated from the term "Water Displacement, 40th formula." The spray, composed of various hydrocarbons, was initially designed to be used by Convair to protect the Atlas missile's outer skin from rust and corrosion. While it's original intent was to protect metals from rust and corrosion, its claim to fame comes from its ability to penetrate stuck parts, displace moisture, and lubricate almost anything. WD-40 is exceptionally efficient at removing grease, grime, and more from most surfaces, and that is why it works for this application. By letting it soak the burned-in oil on the pans, it weakens its adhesion capabilities and breaks it down in a manner that household cleaner can't.
The choice of cleaning ceramic pans with the Dremel Versa versus manpower is entirely up to you! I guess you can do without the tool but I tell you if you use it once, you'll use it all the time. Not only for cleaning pots and pans but anywhere where scrubbing is required! I completely forgot and did not demo it on the video, but the procedure is not only applicable to cleaning ceramic coated cookware but even more efficient for cleaning stainless steel and copper pots and pans. Suppose you are one of those people like me who hates the dark bottom of your favorite pots and pans. In that case, this combination of WD-40 and the Dremel Versa is the best solution for cleaning the bottom of a variety of pots and pans, including nonstick cookware!
The Dremel Versa has a wide variety of accessories. In the kit on the link above, you get a power brush ideal for grout, the grill, and even hard to clean strainers, as well as three scrubbing pads. The white one is much like an eraser sponge and ideal for polishing. The blue one is a medium grid ideal for cleaning ceramic coated pans, glass top stoves, and cooktops. The brown pad is a hard grid to be used only for the most challenging application since "it can leave scuff marks." Although I have polished out the marks left by the brown pad, I suggest you exercise caution when using it!
𝐓𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐏𝐨𝐭𝐬
If there is one I can tell you to rely on, it has to be temperature! Even though you don't want the pan to get very hot to the point that the WD-40 will smoke. Putting the pan on and off the heat has worked for me for a few minutes at a time. And always consider using the blue pad before stepping up to the brown. You know if it's working if the WD-40 stars turning brown. How much pressure to apply and for how long will be dictated by your pots and pans.
*Know that ingesting WD-40 is not recommended, so I hope you wash your ceramic pots and pans adequately before using them! I always let my seat overnight with a mixture of Dawn and water!
I hope that you were able to take something away from this video. If you have another more efficient way of cleaning ceramic pots and pans, I hope you share your experience in the comments section. Don't forget that this procedure work not only on the inside but also to clean the ceramic pan bottom. Hello, what are you referring to when you say it does not work? I can do it for you on a live session and show you that it does work! 100s of people have messaged me and told me that it worked like magic. As to the tool, which is called the *Dremel Versa* it is available everywhere, but if you can't find it, here is a link to AMAZON - amzn.to/3cYgkhz The whole point of using the tool is to cut down on the amount of labor or effort you have to do. You can get the same results without the device but will have to put in quite a bit of effort. Also, the pads that come with this device are of much better quality than those at the grocery store. You can also buy commercial pads (amzn.to/3dPgEP0) and do it by hand, but they are costly, and what's the point? Know that this tool is excellent for a lot of things around the house. Cleaning your tub, your stove, floor, even bug stains in the grill of your vehicle…

I was replaying to another coment that said to use easy off....it never worked it acctuelly made it worse. I cant get the dremil at the moment and cant get a new pan ether what can i use by hand in the mean time would have been the right question to ask.
@CubanRedneck
@CubanRedneck 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for commenting! Yes, Easy-Off does not work! I didn’t pay any attention to that. And yes, just like the vinegar and baking soda, which are an acid / abrasive combination, easy-Off will make it worse in the long run. Since it etches the surface, making it more prone to buildup. Then there are those that say that *WD-40* is toxic. I have no idea who cleans their pot and pans with anything and cooks on them without thoroughly washing them. Anyhow, please try using scrub pads without the tool but don’t buy those at the supermarket. Consider going to a hardware store, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Ace, or something like that and see if you can the 3M ones. You will normally find them on the paint aisle. I hope you are successful…

I have one of those red copper ceramic pans an mine has never gotten that dingy.the secret to never having resort to that intense type of cleaning is.1 spray thin lay of oil on pan an heat it for 1-2 minutes on very low heat.2.take a paper towel an wipe off oil.3.now your ready to cook.if you cook using low to medium heat you will avoid burning the oil which causes it to form that brown hard to remove burnt oil.by cooking with low to medium heat it will form a mildly sticky layer that will clean up pretty easy with regular dish soap an water.it will take a little longer to cook your food like this but you will spend less time cleaning your pan.

…thank you for commenting! I did this video a while ago to answer a particular question, and perhaps I need to revisit the subject. You are correct in more ways than one. Unless I am doing maple bacon or soothing like that, I rarely get my pans dirty enough to where I need to do this process. The key is moderate temp and deglazing. However, not all ceramic pots and pans are created equal. And yes, many of those sold at Sam's Club and Costco do stick and burn the minute you place them on the stove. The point I was trying to drive across was that using vinegar and other low PH acids, etch the surface and make any pan prone to sticking and burning. But many just don't understand that!

my question I pose to you is if you are heating up the pan to open the pores then you spray on wd40 isn't that getting into pores of pan then when you go to cook reheating your pan the heat would release the wd40 into your food?
@CubanRedneck
@CubanRedneck 3 жыл бұрын
First of all, thank you for the comment! …and no, the ceramic pores are very shallow! But I do recommend using Dawn dish soap to clean the WD-40. Dawn breaks down any residue in a matter of seconds better them others. For a piece of mind and as an added precaution, you can put a little bit of water on the pan or skillet, bring it to a boil, add 10-12 drops of Dawn dish soap, turn off the heat and let it sit for a few minutes! That is how oils from the manufacturing process are removed.

I'm glad I read that Easy-Off will not work inside the pans, but I resorted to use it under the pans (it did not get inside the pans since I had it turned upside down). I don't know why but a tremendous grease build-up happens under my stick-free pans. The Easy off and a steel wood pad (on the bottom of the pan only) did work. It did not scratch the bottom of the pan. Now I'm trying this WD-40 trick inside my pan, I hope it works!

I would say as long as you don't have a Dremel, you could find something to use with a drill as well. But, I have a question, putting WD-40 into a pan I'm cooking in seems a little sketch..idk if I'm over thinking this but my question is, will the WD-40 not be pretty difficult getting off? Since its made to penetrate metals? I would hate to think my eggs would taste like it when I cooked em next time. Lol. Even after cleaning when done I would still think there would be some leftover in the pan.

From cleaning the bathtub to the cutting board, that thing gets more use inside the house than in my garage. FYI - If you have a cordless drill, a kit like this would probably work better - amzn.to/3wMRRE4 As the WD-40! If your pans are true ceramic, WD-40 won't penetrate it like it does cold roll steel and other metals. Right, but I feel that something less costly and probably less toxic than penetrating oil will work. Maybe food safe mineral spirits that is used on butcher block cutting boards? You are using the penetrating oil as a cutting oil or like the lubricant for sharpening knives. But I agree that some kind of polish is required for the best upkeep. There are some food safe ceramic polishes available but they can be costly. Also, the little amount that is required is more than adequate from your tube of toothpaste. With no toxicity to worry about at all.

… thank you for stopping by! First, understand the purpose of the WD-40! This chemical does an excellent job of loosening and dissolving carbon deposits. That is why I used it! With that said, there is a complete array of other compounds that do a similar job. I think you are describing a white enamel container, a surface very similar to my ceramic-coated pots and pans. I don’t see any issue trying it, but the condition of the surface is going to impact the outcome. If it is not too bad, you may want to consider polishing with charcoal toothpaste and the tool I recommended in the video. There is a link in the description and more information on my blog!

@CubanRedneck
@CubanRedneck 3 жыл бұрын
…hi. Both of these are relevant as to, how bad are they? If the bottom is really bad and you have the Dremel Versa, consider placing them in the sink upside down and using oven cleaner! I don't like to use oven cleaner on the inside, although it works very well because, like *vinegar* and peroxide, it etches the surface, making it more susceptible to sticking and getting dirtier the next time you use it! As to *non-stick pans* it is also relevant to quality! No, you don't want to go crazy with the Dremel Versa on a non-stick pan. But spraying a little WD40, getting them up to temp, and then pouring some salty water, cheap wine, and even flat beer (like if you were deglazing it) seems to work quite well on the two pieces I have, which are the Sam's Club brand. Little by little I have switch to ceramic!

I used to be very afraid of heating my oven and spraying that awful smelly oven cleaner. I worried the fumes were toxic, i thought my pans i cleaned inside the oven could poison my kids. I read all about the process and 40 years later I use oven cleaner on my oven and certain metal pans. None of the people chiding you over WD mention oven cleaner. … hey thank you for stopping by. The issue with ceramic pans is something called mechanical bonding. If they are not polished regularly (every 6-8 weeks), and you do a lot of deglazing and things like that, you'll create a microscopic rough surface where everything sticks. I use a combination of cast-iron, stainless, and ceramic because there is no such thing as one size fits all. Also, ceramic pots are not the best for searing. I think that is where most people go wrong. Low - Medium heat will get you great results with very little oil, if any!

Hello, thank you for the comment. I can't say I have tried Easy-Off, and I will, but it did not cross my mind because it is a heat-activated compound. I have tried Easy-Off on motorcycle engines and other greasy parts, and without high heat is not effective. BTW... with WD-40 and the Versa polisher, this takes 5 minutes. Say that Easy-Off works. How are you going to polish it? If you don't polish it, it will burn again the first time you use it! My pans stay clean for 3-4 months...

With that said, it is widely used in manufacturing metal press parts, where it serves as a low-cost release agent. That includes flatware, pots, pans, and other cooking utensils. Below is the data sheet - Take a look at section 11. One of the reasons it is used in the manufacturing process is because it is easy to clean compared to other release agents. *DAWN dishwashing detergent* does an excellent job at breaking it down. wd40.asia/clients/WD40_Asia_BF284EEA-5B23-4525-9119-AAAA19DFE37E/contentms/img/sds_tds/Specialist/Asia/SDS_WD-40_Specialist_Automotive_Chain_Lube-Asia.pdf

.. hey thank you for stopping by. As mentioned in multiple comments, there are numerous options. Still, at the end of the day, we need to consider that ceramic pans have literally no absorption and, without a doubt, WD40 is something that a modern detergent like DAWN can dissolve on contact. While you don't want to drink it, its low toxicity and ability to break down carbon makes it ideal. Also, this is something you may do once or twice a year. Anyone who needs to do this all the time needs to lar how to cook! Have an excellent HOLIDAY season, and thank you once again for sharing!

Sorry, wouldn't use WD-40 on my fry pan: not food grade ☠. Have you tried Vodka or Everclear and let that soak? Non-stick sprays, Pam, at least, has alcohol and lecithin as well as oil in it. Let that soak on a slightly warm pan, but don't cook with it? Lecithin is supposed to be bad for plastic type pan coatings and maybe this ambigious ceramic stuff. I just bring to a boil automatic dish detergent with water, and then let it sit in a pan and that works. Not sure if it is good for the coatings or not.

Alcohol and maybe wd40. Alcohol should do the trick
@CubanRedneck
@CubanRedneck 2 жыл бұрын
….hi, and thank you for commenting. The point of the *WD-40* is to serve as a lubricant so that the polishing tool does not create abrasions on the ceramic surface. WD-40 hydrophobic properties also make it exceptionally well suited to release carbons (burn marks). Many have expressed concerns about it being a hazard to your health, but its toxicity is very mild, according to the product's safety sheet. With that said, I have never tried alcohol, but I would think that that may fall into the low PH category of cleaners and something I would not recommend using with a tool that creates heat from friction. Coke works as well, but much like vinegar, it etches the surface resulting in a pan or skillet that is more prone to burning or sticking. I made this video a long time ago with very basic equipment. I think it was filmed on my GoPro 3. I was not expecting for it to be #1 on KZfaq. Perhaps I need to redo it and get a microscope lens or adapter for the camera to show the surface details. My objective was to drive the polishing message home, and somehow the cleaning took center stage. I actually think that deglazing is the best way to clean cookware. Once again, thank you for commenting, and I will make a point to try different types of alcohol.

@CubanRedneck Жыл бұрын
Hi Jolie, thank you for stopping by. I have answered this many times over and over, and if you read through the comment, you will find answers to every one of your points and then some. Nevertheless, I will address your concerns. #1 - This is not something you do every day! If you are getting your pots and pans this dirty every time. There is an issue, and I don't think it is the pots and pans. Or perhaps it is! #2 - Ceramic coated pots and pans don't absorb anything. The ceramic coating on cookware consists of silica (aka sand) compounds and other inorganic chemicals fired at a very high temperature onto the substrate. I am very familiar with the process and why I own and use ceramic-coated pots and pans. #3 - WD-40 is widely used in all kinds of manufacturing because it breaks down quickly, leaving no traces. Unlike the so-called vaccine, many have lined up to take and even give it to their kids for no reason. Any quality detergents such as DAWN dishwashing detergent instantly dissolve it. #4 - Last but not least, and as said before, I have watched the video several times, but I can't find where I recommended injecting it. But nevertheless, please find below the actual datasheet and look at section 11 *(INGESTION)!* If you know anyone that works for or with *OSHA* or does *ISO* certification, they should be able to provide you with an extended datasheet as required with many procedures where WD-40 is used as a cleaning agent. files.wd40.com/pdf/sds/mup/wd-40-multi-use-product-aerosol-low-voc-sds-us-ghs.pdf I hope this answers your concerns!
