How to clean fresh coconut. If you get the chance to find a coconut tree while you're in a tropical country, you should know that the coconuts lying under the tree actually have a delicious flesh and a very sweet juice. You just have to open them! Cleaning coconuts isn't easy but with patience you can do it. Place the coconut on a stable surface. Ensure that the coconut won't slip or move around. Find a good kitchen knife, you will only need the knife in order to remove the husk and crack open the shell. A coconut has three ribs and you have to pick which one is the softest and start cleaning from there. It is easier to peel from the softer rib. Once you peel this one off, the rest will come off easily. Poke around your coconut to find this soft rib. Once you do, slice down the rib, from the top to the bottom, and pull the knife to the side to separate the husk from the shell. Do this slowly and take your time. Once you remove one husk, do the same to the other two ribs. Keep making deep slices and move it all the way down. While doing so, move your knife to the side to separate it from the shell. The best part about this is that you don't need any special knives or instruments, such as machetes, in order to clean this coconut. Once you clean the coconut, you need to examine the shell itself. You will see three pores on the top of the shell. The softest one of these pores is the germinating pore. The sprouts start growing from this pore, after being in the sand for some period of time. This is the pore that we will open up and use to get the water out. #coconut #sprouted #coconutmilk #coconutwaterbenefits #coconutplant #bahamas #travelvideo #catisland #traveltheworld
