A very revealing presentation. I've always had great respect for sophisticated lenses, but more so after viewing your video -such a heroic effort to clean-up a common, "normal" lens. Not something I would attempt, but you have expertly shown what is involved.

Nice informative video. On the lens mount, what is the purpose of the black arc-shaped protrusion around the inside portion of the mount? I noticed that not all Nikkor-S lenses have that protrusion (e.g. the Nikkor-S 50-mm F2.0 has a smooth internal ring )

Hi Kenneth, Many thanks as per usual for your fine work and efforts. May I ask the name of all the different rubber cones/bushes, etc... you use on the lenses, please? I have been to quite few plumber shops here in London and they all give a lost look when I show them the photos of the items. Is there any specific brand/name I could chase up? Regards Marr

Very thorough video. I wanted to use this or your other videos as guides to disassemble one of these lenses, but mine is an early model and different from the one use use. I don't have any screws on the mount end. You always point out one five that should not be removed. Any ideas on this would be appreciated.

Hi mike, I was wondering if you have any experience with a Rolleiflex SL35 E? I recently was given one by my mother but its not working. tried new battery. The problem is that it will not reset and the view finder won't go down. Its like its half completed taking a picture and is now stuck there, the film progresser is also stuck and won't let me more it past half way to progress the film. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Moses.

I got myself in a bit of a problem. I disassembled my nikkor-s f1.4 (looks the same as the video) and got everything apart and cleaned. But when assembling the focus mechanism I can align all the pieces the focus thread has 5 flutes right hand and another 5 flutes left hand. That is 25 combinations. And this is not shown on the video. I would appreciate some help here.

Thanks for your video, I've been fixing my 50mm 1.4 non ai type K (same as yours) for days but although it works well and the focus turns smoothly, I can't get myself to focus infinitely by following the steps in your video. What could be the problem? I can't get focus further than 3 or 4 meters
@mikeno62
@mikeno62 4 жыл бұрын
If someone has disassembled the focus helicoids, without setting any marks where the helicoids threads separate, and just think it should not be a problem and in that way assemble the focus helicoids, but take the wrong helicoid, then it will not be possible get to infinity. If you take a closer look on this video about another Nikkor lens, where I show how to re-lube the focus system, then you will see why it is so important to set a mark and also measure the length of the focus system, before take it apart. Well, it could also be another issue, if the lens assembly have been taken apart for cleaning the lens elements, and when assemble it again, some of the lens element's has been put in, in a wrong position. Hope it make sense.

hello, tose screws in the back flathead are pretty hard for me to get out.. any tips?
@mikeno62
@mikeno62 Жыл бұрын
Yeah the screws can sometimes be very tight, but you can try to use Isopropylalcohol 99% or so on a cotton bud simply to soften the thread lock. Add 2-3 drops on the screw head and wait maybe 10 minutes or more, for the solvent to go in on the thread. Maybe you have to do it 2-3 times, then gently turn the screwdriver 🪛 counterclockwise and clockwise, to loosen it.

Hi, I wonder if you could help me? I am trying to disassemble the same lens and I cannot unscrew the front retaining ring. I still don't have the 'Push Fit Boss Adapter' (the tool you are using) but I am looking for one which is not easy to find in UK. The question is, whether there are times when it is not possible to unscrew the retaining ring and if yes, what would you do? Would you try to loosen up the ring with WD40, for instance? With thanks. If you look at around 7:17 when I use the rubber tool, it you go to the hardware store and in the plumbing section look for some of those rubber gaskets, try to find one that almost fit on the black retaining ring. This kind of rubber gasket is really good sticky rubber and a perfoct "tool" when working with lenses. Maybe this one can be useful: www.cityplumbing.co.uk/Osma-OsmaDrain-Internal-Connector-for-50mm-Waste-Pipe-to-110mm-4D299/p/870067

@@mikeno62 thank you very much for this, but I already have similar thing. I tried even with heating the front retaining ring and still cannot unscrew. My question is, have you ever come up against similar problem when you couldn't unscrew it at all, no matter what you tried?
