Thank you for this video! I'm new to smoking and this was super helpful and the best part was you didn't use chemicals
@CookingwithManualFocus

You are welcome! Sometimes we use chemicals when we do not have to in the sake of convenience. Especially with cooking surfaces. Things like onions and lemons do the trick and does not pose any harm or harmful chemicals.

I’m new to a pellet grill when u actually smoke something like ribs or brisket do you put in on the smoke setting or 200F ? Thanks
@CookingwithManualFocus
@CookingwithManualFocus Жыл бұрын
So the smoke setting will give you more smoke for the initial part of any smoking session. Usually if im doing brisket I would run it 250⁰ and let it ride out. It provides enough smoke flavor. But really its all preference. Here is a playlist of all my smoking vids that includes a bunch of ribs and some brisket and other things I have done on the pellet grill.

How much time do you think is needed before you would be able to throw the grill cover on it after a cook?
@CookingwithManualFocus
@CookingwithManualFocus 2 жыл бұрын
30-45 Mins Should be enough time after a cooking session.

Newish proud owner of a pitboss smoker. After you cleaned out the pellets, did you prime the auger?
@CookingwithManualFocus
@CookingwithManualFocus 2 жыл бұрын
Congrats on the smoker! I did prime after the cleanout.

Great video. I have seen where some explode. Have you ever been worried about a fire or explosion?
@CookingwithManualFocus
@CookingwithManualFocus 2 жыл бұрын
I have not. The instances that I seen them "explode" were improper uses of the grill. Either having the hood down during the startup "ignition" process or a flame out and not properly restarting the grill. The hood should always be left up while going through start up. And if you should have a flameout shut the grill down, clean it out and properly restart it. The "explosion" is cause by the rapid ignition of the pellets.

@@CookingwithManualFocus thanks for the info. I have wanted one for a while but feared explosion. Seems complicated to primer and start.
@CookingwithManualFocus
@CookingwithManualFocus 2 жыл бұрын
It's really not hard at all. I have been thinking on making a video on the startup process. If you follow thr process and overcome the initial fear I think you will enjoy it. But you could also get an offset smoker. I have been eyeing one myself to add to the collection.

The thermometer has no input on the temperature controll. Pellet smokers use a PID sysytem (how many seconds the auger is turned on and off to deliver pellets.) They are not the most accurate thermometers and placed in a bad position. Get a good quality one, like thermoworks, and place it on the grate where you meat is going to sit. You will see a huge difference!

Is there a way to get under the igniter and section under the auger? I have spilt some grease at the bottom of the barrel and also wanted to degrease the whole barrel as well.
@CookingwithManualFocus
@CookingwithManualFocus Жыл бұрын
you would have to take apart the auger assembly. here is a link that shows what it would look like to see the screw placements. pellet-stove-parts-4less.com/products/pit-boss-auger-box-housing-for-the-lexington?variant=32714677715049&gclid=Cj0KCQjw2v-gBhC1ARIsAOQdKY1eIxqD1GZGwE6OfcvNfltdwh5Unv7PSgpIxGMdc2uknBp06-rn308aAk6ZEALw_wcB

@@CookingwithManualFocus Thanks, I will give that as last resort….just looked underneath it. I don’t want to mess with too many screws yet…I stripped some when putting it together and taking the pellet grate out. I will try heat it up and tipping it to collect great in one spot first. Thanks for the reply.
