This is how I clean and refurbish some of the retro consoles I get. In this vid I show some of the tricks I use to get old hardware looking nice and clean/ tidy again.
I'm pretty sure I got the WD40 idea from one of Luke Morse's vids so when I find the link for that I'll post it here (*edit* Found it! • One Way To Clean Up Yo... ). Either way, check out his channel if you're into collecting retro games and hardware (there's a link on my page).

i use some Car dashbord cleaner ! it make the console looks new !

@Floppy2Blueray Using a hoover is fine. You can buy special attachments for cleaning electronics. I've used this method for years. Very effective, safe and cheaper than buying cans of compressed air.

Every time i get a used system i take them aparte,controller and all,grab the casings,buttons, etc... and scrub the hell out of them with a nail brush and hand washing liquid :)! works like a charm! The plastic looks brand new at the end of it! The WD40 Just seem to greassy for me! Awesome tips man! Cheers!

Just got a saturn today, WD-40 on some tissues have removed basically all the marks on it. Strange I didnt think of it efore as I used to use wd40 as back to black on my cars bumpers etc.

Can this be done on a Dreamcast? The only reason I ask is because these Sega consoles are all painted black. How does the white paint job hold up on the Dreamcast using this technique? Being second hand (bought about 5 years back) my Dreamcast has always had a beighy, tobacco stain on it (I think the guys who had it before me smoked... a lot) As always, an excellent vid, sir. Keep up the good work

Its a good thing I don't have a spare room or it would be full of stuff like this lol At the moment my old consoles have to make do with the occasional trips down from the loft

To save a bit of time, you can also remove the cover and stick it in the dish washer at a low temperature, it really cleans the console nicely, allso instead of using WD40 you can use furniture polish, it does the same thing... And minor scratches on glossy plastic can be removed with a dramel tool and a polishing disc for it combined with some polishing wax, just takes a lot of time...
