Don't do them one at a time for 20mins. Stick them all in a larger tub and leave for a week. That way all the weights will drop out. Don't leave any red glue in there. Using 'school glue' won't seal it... the red glue will still drip out. Clean everything, make sure there is no red glue left and re-glue each weight with epoxy. That's the right way to do it.

I have an XP-80 which I haven't even taken out of its bag in at least a decade due to severe "Red Goo of Death" issues, and was about to throw it away when your video made me stop and attempt to fix it. I was very nervous about using the drain opener but it worked perfectly!

Just fixed my JD800 with 99¢ store drain cleaner, can't remember which brand, but it worked well, and seems safer than the more caustic options. Thanks for this video.

I used 99cents Awesome cleaner. Buy 2 or 3 gallons. put all keys inside a bucket and leave them for about 3-5 days. key weights will come off and keys will look like new. All glue comes off

If you lose the weights, go down to the hardware store. The weights are 10 grams each. You can buy metal nuts that weigh 4.5 grams each. Glue 2 nuts in place of the lost weights. Another fail area is the flimsy ass ribbon cable thermally connected to the green key contact pcb. The joint lies under a clear plastic piece about 2 inches long, held in by 2 black plastic pin things. I am about to jerry rig a clamp to press the joint tight to the metal. Cutting a popsicle stick to 2 inches long, and cutting a 2 inch strip the width of the popsicle stick outof a large rubber washer. Drill 2 small holes on either side of the black plastic pins, in the metal the green pcb is mounted to.... Fit the rubber strip onto the top of the clear strip and put the 2 inch popsicle stick on top of that. Cover the whole thing with a flat metal bar and bolt the damned thing down, thus squeezing the flimsy ass ribbon cable to the green pcb. This can fix dead keys, velocity issues, etc. Sometimes the simple fix is golden...
