Hi, just suscribed today. Good to see people taking care of the countryside. Here in England, a traditional field hedge is of hawthorn. A very resilient, tough wood, used for tool handles and walking sticks. The trees are layered to make an impeneterable barrier, i.e. the branches are nicked with a bilhook and bent down to lay flat. The branch continues to grow, and the process continues. However, nowadays, farmers just run along the hedge with a mower on a tractor arm. The hedges become thinner and no good. We have a swamp on the way to the base and it is still dry, even after what rain we have had.

I guess after a while everyone yard gets that way including my, I need to mulch the outer edge of my yard but here in New England not to many people have mulchers great job great video thanks Tim and gàbe

Only bad thing is one stick of that stuff will take root. The owner will have to stay on top of it.

Man I had one of those, couple hundred yards so overgrown with vines and irish rose you couldn't tell there was a fence, clipped the fence at every post, 10 feet or so and used the backhoe bucket to skim the ground and bulldoze it all into a pile to burn and recover the fence for scrap, cleared 3-4 acres clean with ripping and brush hogging repeatedly and now its the nicest looking pasture with golf course green grass, actually think its timothy and clover. Rotobec grapple is a monster.

Hey Tim, the Alabama Forestry Commission used to have a privet eradication program, don't know if they still do, we used their money to clear the edges of our fields on our property in Bibb county.

The Rotebec eats privet like its candy!
