Regular Vinegar vs Cleaning Vinegar What is the difference between white vinegar and cleaning vinegar? Amazon Link amzn.to/2DhPUpL Does cleaning vinegar work differently than white vinegar? Is one vinegar better at cleaning than the other? Regular white vinegar is 5% acidity and cleaning vinegar is 6% acidity. The one percent actually makes it 20% stronger. Cleaning vinegar is not to be used for cooking. The fresh scent of cleaning vinegar smells exactly the same as white vinegar. Cleaning vinegar is more expensive, and I do not find that it cleans better than regular vinegar. Regular white vinegar can be used for cooking and cleaning, so I am only going to buy regular white vinegar so my white vinegar can be used for cooking and cleaning. If you add water to your white vinegar when you clean, you are lowering the acidity level.

I use undiluted white distilled vinegar and nothing, absolutely nothing shines glass and other shiny surfaces like it. No streaks, exceptionally shiny and perfect. I use it also in place of fabric softener. It strips out the old soap and chemical softener buildup after a few washes. The best part is after this, my clothes are even softer then when using the chemical softeners. Chemical softeners also cut the absorbance quality of dish towels, bath towels etc. So, it is counter productive in that way. But using vinegar and your towels will be even more absorbant and also less staticky too. Also, it really does help whiten whites especially if you use it in the final rinse. Much of what is sold as household cleaners is unnecessary and a gimmick that plays off our germphobic society. Add a few drops of dish detergent to a spray bottle of vinegar and you have an excellent window cleaner that far surpasses anything else I've used in the past.

I have emphysema and cannot tolerate bleach or harsh perfume smells, so I've been using vinegar as a cleaning solution for years. I put a tbs of Dawn dish washing liquid, 2 tbs vinegar (white or apple cider) and 2 cups of water in a 32 oz spray bottle ( in that order and do not shake). I was considering buying the cleaning vinegar, but I was a little skeptical. Thank you very much for your video, I appreciate you clarifying the difference. Btw, to those of you that don't like the smell of vinegar, if you will dilute it properly, it won't be overwhelming and the smell fades quickly. When I first starting using it as a cleaning solution, I used entirely too much (50% water 50% vinegar) and my husband would COMPLAIN endlessly. Just a couple of tablespoons will do.

Nice that the cleaning vinegar worked to remove your cat urine problem. That is probably the most toxic and hard to remove substance I know. I love pets, but homes where they are allowed to soil the floor, leaching into the sub floor can lead to catastrophic damage in my opinion. Nearly impossible to get rid of the odor. I used Kilz on a cement floor in a house I bought where dog urine had seeped through carpet and pad. Luckily, not a wood floor under it.

I have a 30% vinegar for going after Extreme purpose use reasons killing cleaning mold much easier. And I'm sure far more that I don't even know about as this is the first bottle I've ever gotten and I think you can reduce it down to the 5% or 20% whatever that you want to believe it's just distilled water you need to do so. Same thing goes with hydrogen peroxide I have food grade 36% which you put a couple drops in your glass of water and helps clean you out from the inside. and it's not poison like the brown stuff at the pharmacy. But thank you for your heads up on that 6% I've never seen that before.

AlaskaGranny I've only just very recently heard of it myself and I picked up a gallon I think either from eBay or Amazon it's about $26 for the gallon but if you look at the percentage and if you were to reduce it to the 5% that the normal stuff is you would get like 6 gallons out of that one gallon so if you do the math $26 for one gallon is not that expensive for this stuff. I have yet to use it because of its strength I'm not really sure how to do it and I'm always cautious when I use something like this. As I also have 36% hydrogen peroxide food grade which is awesome stuff too. If you can't tell I'm into doing things naturally. After years and years of drugs failing me for Crohn's and many other autoimmune issues I have I'm going to natural way now and cannabis is one of my best most useful drugs as it takes away 20 20 prescriptions out of about 28 so I'm left with only about 8 of them today not any other drug can say that. Another natural thing I've been using is DMSO if you have any pain or anti-inflammatory issues in round your body this is the stuff to use. I am glad that I'm able to make you knowledgeable of a product you weren't over aware of before. might be something to check out you seem to know a lot about your white vinegar that's why I asked you. Have a great day I hope my information was somewhat helpful to you. As yours was to me.

Some have added chemicals, but Heinz all-natural cleaning vinegar says it's fine for cooking, although I assume it needs a little dilution to taste right. @@jimmyjimmy7240 The National Institutes of Health disagree with you. It DOES kill bacterial, just not ALL types of bacteria, and it requires longer time than most people are willing to let it sit and work. Most disinfectants should be left alone for at least a few minutes to actually kill germs effectively. Vinegar can take 10x that long to have full effect, but it's cheap, easy to make, less damaging than most other options, etc. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3940030/#idm139709870792704title

@@haveyougotyourtowel You're not helping your argument. There are 20 organisations, you're picking one to support your way of thinking. I'll believe the EPA 🤣, it's an obvious choice. Secondly, yes all disinfectants take dwell time. Typically 3-15 minutes depending on your goals . . . Let highly acidic vinegar sit for 30-150 minutes? To only kill 90% of germs compared to 99.9% in 3-15 minutes? Yea, you do that. One 32oz bottle of virucide/sanitizer/all-purpose cleaner (3 in 1) costs me about 50¢, so vinegar is not cheaper, it's not safer, it's not and effective cleaner, it's not healthier for your home or family. It coddles ideologies. So if you truly wanted to save money, protect your home, and cared about your family's health, you would choose function over fashion and stop following trends that came about from people misunderstanding science in the 1950s. You do what you want, but your school's and hospitals aren't using vinegar for a reason; common sense.
@haveyougotyourtowel

@@jimmyjimmy7240 I guess my comments somehow angered you. It's 30 minutes vs. 3 minutes, some people can't handle harsh sanitizers (bleach, even quats, etc.), that's an amazing deal to find a decent sanitizer at 50 cents, and some countries can't access commercial cleaners but can make vinegar. I'd never heard the National Institutes of Health (the folks who deal with health and outbreaks) treated as a fake source before, but I do understand that the idea of vinegar seems an incomplete cleaning method. Technically, soap, water, and a clean towel/rag/sponge will get rid of quite a few germs. The trouble is how horrifically germy our sponges and rags tend to be. There's also a question whether disinfecting is a good idea (see link). And a friend used Lysol wipes everywhere when her kids were sick and gave them horrific Pink Eye due to all of that neurotoxin residue. speedcleaning.com/2013/cleaning-tips-from-the-clean-team/disinfectants-necessary/

Vinegar is a chemical. It's actually recommended you use protective eyewear and a mask when using it. Not healthy to breath, not a disinfectant, and your scrubbing gets more of the grime away than the vinegar does. It's a marketing trick. It all started in the 50s. Sorry to burst that bubble. I'm sure you'll keep using it though because it comforts you, just figured I'd let you know.

+AJourney 08 I am glad you find vinegar for 1 dollar. Where I shop in Alaska the cheapest white vinegar is $4.47, and cleaning vinegar is nearly $5. You should definitely stock up at that price. Vinegar does not expire, and can be used for so many things.

You can use cleaning vinegar for cooking purposes but paying more for it is foolish. What Is Different About Cleaning Vinegar?Heinz Cleaning Vinegar is made from grain just like their distilled white vinegar. The difference is that the cleaning vinegar has been reduced to 6% acidity instead of the 5% acidity of the standard white vinegar. This may not seem like much of a difference, but understand that this means that it is 20% stronger than the regular vinegar. The extra strength comes in handy when you need to remove some really tough stains. And even though it is stronger, it is still safe. It actually says on the bottle “safe for cooking, perfect for cleaning

Thanks for sharing your tips for using cleaning vinegar. Yes, it is 20% stronger, and I get a lot of comments questioning that fact. I appreciate you taking the time to help educate us.

first off, I have found that cleaning vinegar seems to be less expensive than regular vinegar. I also think the math should be re-evaluated, yes the difference between 5% and 6% is 20%, but that has nothing to do with the different contents of the vinegars, look at it this way, 5% of a dollar is 5 cents, 6% percent of a dollar is 6 cents, I still only have a difference of 1 cent, it does not matter that the difference between the percentages is 20%. that does not change the difference of a "1%" increase in acidity, so yes, that is why you hardly notice any difference between the two types a very slight increase in acidity.

I am glad you find the vinegar you choose at the price you like. I have never seen cleaning vinegar at a lower price. Money math is arithmetic. Vinegar is chemistry. The chemical compound that gives vinegar its tart taste and pungent smell is acetic acid. I am not a scientist, but follow the directions to not use in cooking, and wear gloves to keep from burning or drying out hands.
@paulna5526
@paulna5526 7 жыл бұрын
you may want to do more research, from what I've researched it is not dangerous to use for cooking, although not recommended only because of the taste, and it does not burn your hands anymore than regular vinegar. when I buy cleaning vinegar it does not have those notices anywhere on the label. oh and math is math hon, 5 + 1 = 6.

Hello. Does regular vinegar work in bathroom toilets and showers with extremely difficult stains? Does it leave a smell? Would not this attract ants because of the vinegar? What is the ratio of vinegar to water or baking soda?

White vinegar does lots of things, including get rid of ants. I use it for many things, and have made many videos on using white vinegar. You can watch more of my videos at my website. Here is a link. www.alaskagranny.com/panda-washing-machine/

Vinegar as a cleaner is an old myth. Ive been doing research on cleaning vinegar that brought me to this video, but it's all the same. Vinegar is by no means classified as a disinfectant (it would need to be 100x stronger as a disinfectant to be considered health grade.) And what's cutting away at anything is the acid, which is terrible for most surfaces and usually the water and your scrubbing is doing most of the work. On top of that . . . vinegar is a chemical; anyone saying "No more chemicals!!!!" Is using chemicals. 😅

@@AlaskaGranny Science . . . Not just ideas. 😏 Not trying to be rude but you can't simply water it down as "interesting ideas", unless we've all figured out something opposing what the EPA has studied and verified. It's hard to learn and change everything you've been doing because it's a myth. Either way, I'd rather be "that guy" and encourage people to actually provide a clean and healthy environment for their families if they really care to and not just coddle their need for pseudo-morals.
