Nicely done.. Try placing a bag of zeolite stones in the aquarium (for about a week) to absorb most of the loose ammonia.

great idea when you are about to clean your filter.. if not, the dirt will be trapped in the filter but the nitrates will simply be going back to the water in the tank, i think.. so this will force you to clean the filter and replace portion of the water..

Ty with longer bottle and stronger pull. The sand will be pulled to maybe half of the bottle and you will be able to get most of the dirt out even the heavier one. As i can see that only manages to pull the finest of dirt

Good idea . I do similar thing using siphon and bottle in front end . Very effective nethod and removes a lot of rubbish from gravel substrate. I have also posted a video explaining that .

Take the cap from the bottle, cut or melt a hole just large enough for the hose to fit through but still very snug. If you mess up the hole, try again on another cap. Or seal around the hole with silicone (no additives) or hot glue. Hope that helps.
