So glad I watched this, was planning to paint like your second one to blend more with my current AOTD but I much prefer the dry brush look!

It was a surprise to me too. Hope it goes well.

First set of these I've seen, I won't be getting them as I'm not into AOTD right now, but if I was I would. I think they look great!

Stick a LED in the bottom, should be a cool FX
@toomanyminis.6 ай бұрын
Yeah I’m looking forward to someone trying that.

I subscribed the moment i saw the texture pallete dinosaur, great video! Bought these guys and picking them up tomorrow, needed some inspiration.

The dinosaur is my best tool.

They look quite cool :)

Yeah I was skeptical but actually they’re pretty nice.

got a few of the regular army of the dead. picked them up from the Pelennor Fields set. Not my favourite but these look awesome, so will now have to go buy some!

Thank you! Been looking for videos on the new sets! Its a shame the banner and horse models are not in this plastic so we can never have a full translucent army 😢
@toomanyminis.6 ай бұрын
It is but they definitely don’t warrant brand new plastic models. They’re pretty niche models.

So goooooooooooooooooood dude!!!!

They’re fun. I will assume you have 5000 of them flying around the world to you as we speak? 🤣🤣🤣

I got a few boxes too. I think i wille try the drybrush plus shade. Also try to use very dilluted contrast type paints to add some colours accents like the ones in the movie.

I have a bunch that I’m waiting on. I Really like how they look every without paint. Keep hoping GW will do Nighthaught in translucent plastic, if they did I’d be starting another Army.
@toomanyminis.4 ай бұрын
Translucent Nighthaunt would sell like hot cakes. Great idea.

Really like how you did the one with the wash and the dry rush the most. So simple and yet so effective. But saying that, I also really like your original one as well. 😂😂. Once they are all done can you do a reveal of them as a unit? In the meantime, have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year. Regards James
@toomanyminis.6 ай бұрын
Thanks! Merry Christmas to you too and I’ll definitely do a video when I’ve painted them all. Might be the spur I need to paint my riders and banner too.
@mikenolan736 ай бұрын
Agreed. The drybrush + green wash helps maintain the translucent effect of the plastic. Gives the dead that "semi transparent" look.
@brianv7696 ай бұрын
Drybrush/wash looks best. I am kinda glad I did not get any to add to my Dead, I think they look good, but would stand out too much.
@toomanyminis.6 ай бұрын
That’s definitely a risk.

I wonder how fluorescent paints would affect it
@toomanyminis.3 ай бұрын
Hard to say isn’t it? I guess they work by bouncing light and these work by light shining through them. Would probably be quite contrasting effects.

very cool

When you painted the mini, did you just apply the paint directly to the bare plastic? Did you not coat it in any kind of varnish before painting? Also, did the paint not rub off after applying it?
@toomanyminis.6 ай бұрын
I painted directly. The grey base paints have very good adhesion. None of it rubbed off but I will varnish them when they’re finished.
@SiestaOdyssey6 ай бұрын
Thanks

Hi Ossie, with some inventive basing, I don' think they have to be painted at all (maybe weapons and shields). This is the perfect army for clear plastic. The dry brushing does look good. I'm thinking maybe a thinned Speed Paint to retain some translucency? I'd like to try them. Just my thoughts. Thanks for posting - Happy Season bro, Mikey V.
@toomanyminis.6 ай бұрын
Yeah you could totally do that. I’m not sure you can make out enough of the of the details with no paint but they’d make for nice silhouettes for sure. Adding paint helps if you want to blend them with existing AotD or the banner and cavalry which won’t be available in clear plastic.

@@toomanyminis.Hey, thanks for the heads up. Take care
