Hi everyone and welcome to a new series called "Clear the Stacks"! In my job I manage the holding stacks for aircraft landing at Heathrow, and place them "downwind" for the Final approach Director (FIN) to line them up with the runway. During the pandemic and furlough I have been playing a game called London Control to keep my skills sharp, and have been enjoying clearing some busy skies for fun!
Today we are simulating aircraft landing towards the east on runway 09 Left. A small part of the job of the Intermediate Director (INT) at Heathrow is working departures that head towards the Compton (CPT) VHF radio beacon, and you'll see a few of those in this video. You'll also see one aircraft inbound to RAF Northolt towards the end of the video, which we would normally speak to as well.
Let me know if you enjoy this small insight into how your plane gets onto the ground when you fly into Heathrow! Be sure to like the video, subscribe and leave a comment telling me what you think I should do next!
