Literally the same thing happened in my hometown. Had a pretty big community of car guys built around the local drag strip, Neighborhood comes in next door, next thing you know the HOA used the court to zone them into oblivion. Right now the drag strip has been abandoned for the past 15 years or so. They did the same thing to this old feller down the road from me out in the county, he used to host a mud bog every year dozens of big ole trucks out there n shit. All came to a halt when they started building houses out there. Now he has maybe 1 or 2 rides a year.

Except that he now recently sold out and has hidden away for months while those of us trying to save the land around the track from developers try to contact him. From local politicians to conservation groups to people like myself, he has dodged questions and ignored the subject entirely since december. he tried to file an appeal last month just a couple days before the deadline and he got shot down because he didn't do the legwork. Didn't bother to hire an attorney either. Too busy wasting money on cars and filming garbage for youtube instead of doing the right thing with his platform and shining a light on the crimes of the local committee which is going to result in the loss of the race track. I used to have lots of respect for Garrett and what he has done. However its obvious to me today that he is just like any other guy who becomes famous on youtube; its just all about the money and views. Everything is a deal of some kind in the end for his personal gain. Real shame tbh because I considered him to be humble and down to earth.

Unfortunately it will come to an end once the developments around his track and the Bradenton Motorsports complex start going up. Once the land is rezoned and they break ground it is only a matter of time before the tracks are limited or shut down entirely. He is too busy with his life of fun and raking in the youtube bucks to be a responsible adult and work with people from his county to fight the developers illegally developing the land everywhere... what was once farmland will all be gone as houses and shopping centers with no infrastructure, police, schools or even roads to support it. Cleetus has the platform and the cash to save the tracks for the future generations and put a stop to this corruption; instead he stays silent and shoes away from the problem. It's really sad since i had quite a bit of respect for him before all this crap happened.

@@Jimster481 He recently said that he thinks it will be at least 10 years before that will become an issue. You don't know what he's doing behind the scenes, and frankly neither do I, but you're clearly even less informed than I am and are in no position to be giving him grief about it.
@Jimster481
@Jimster481 Жыл бұрын
@@iswm I'm not less informed than anyone. Because I'm working with the people who are literally at the meetings and dealing with the Developers. Not only that but we formed a organization called East Manatee preservation and we are working with various local groups as well as local government officials to fight back against the developers. In 10 years it will be too late. In two years it will already be too late because once the land is rezoned and the first ground is broken they can already impose noise ordinances on the tracks. Once the first houses are inhabited that's already the beginning of the end. I walked this growing up in Miami as every single track went away. In a period of 30 years Miami went from having 8 tracks to zero. So as far as behind-the-scenes I actually do know what's going on on like random KZfaq commenters and Cletus fanboys.

@@Jimster481 How much power do you think he really has in regards to preventing big companies from developing huge areas of land? That’s a massive amount of money on the line and it can be extremely difficult to prevent development if you’re not providing a comparable amount of potential revenue. Big businesses will develop, other smaller businesses will pop up, and huge amounts of money will be brought to the area because that’s kind of what happens. I don’t like it either but that’s capitalism man. Losing a racetrack is a small consequence of that by comparison to some of the real crimes against humanity that are committed in the name of profit. It’s sad yeah, I agree. But you’re basically suggesting that by him not making it the only thing he does with his life, that he’s somehow in cahoots with the developers. I doubt the dude wants to lose his racetrack as it’s a centerpiece for his entire business. That being said, again, I think his ability to actually do anything particularly substantial to prevent development is extremely limited. I don’t think it’s responsible to just blame the dude for not doing what might be impossible anyway. You sound more pissed at him for just wanting to live than you are at developers and local government for their far more critical roles in the process…

You always see Cleetus let the guys try all the toys, but seeing him send them on their 3rd launch, and the laughter from himself just shows how genuine he is in his love for seeing others experience all the things he loves! Such a great video!!

I'm a 78 year old spoiled kid who's had a ton of toys (used to think I was spoiled). Cleetus has to be marketed around the globe as to what the REAL American Dream is. AND he has a wife that tolerates it... BEST VIDEO EVER !!!!

Youe hero speaking here...I watched the whole shabang. I'm a contractor by trade and applaud all of tour work. Look fairly professional in practice and turned out very nice. Something to be very proud of! I've been in the trades 30 yrs and still learn new rhungs along the way. I tell people that construction isn't hiring out of NASA. Its all pretty straight forward and anyone can do it. Putting in the time with perseverance and attention to detail will go you to the end. Only time hands on and good mentors teach you the tricks of the trade that result in a quicker outcome. Use the right tool for the job helps a lot but you'd be surprised what you can accomplish with a tool that can do the job but not specifically made for the project. Im looking forward to what you finish up inside. Thanks for the detailed content, camera angles and your band rocks as well. Till next time, good luck sir!
