Clementi Singapore Walking Tour (2019) is a video recording of my walk with no talking. I highly recommend using headphones to experience 3D environment sounds as I recorded with binaural microphones.
Filmed using:
Camera: Osmo Pocket - amzn.to/309uju3
Extension Rod: Osmo Pocket Extension Rod - amzn.to/306xnqK
Audio Recorder: Zoom H1N - amzn.to/33TU7LO
Camera Charger: Osmo Pocket Charging Case - amzn.to/2EyQfY3
Editing Software: DaVinci Resolve - amzn.to/3j4ASp5
Clementi Singapore Info:
Clementi is a planning area and residential town located at the easternmost fringe of the West Region of Singapore. The town borders Bukit Batok to the north, Bukit Timah to the northeast, Queenstown to the east and Jurong East to the west.
The present area occupying Clementi Avenue 1 used to be known as 'Sussex Estate', named after the historic county of Sussex in England. It was developed in the mid-1950s to house the families of British senior non-commissioned officers. When Clementi underwent a major transformation beginning in 1975, Sussex Estate was the only pre-development feature that was retained. It was demolished in 1997.
Most of the area currently occupied by Clementi New Town today was once a military installation called 'Colombo Camp'. It is not known when the camp came into existence, however what is known is that the Singapore Guard Regiment, formed in 1948, stationed its troops there. When the regiment disbanded in November 1971, the camp was left to stand for another four more years before it was demolished in 1975.
Clementi New Town was subsequently developed between 1975 and 1979 on the plot of land that was once occupied by the camp. Planned as a self-sufficient residential town with a range of facilities and services, the Housing and Development Board (HDB) began clearing the area in 1974 and affected villagers were resettled.
An iconic landmark at Clementi is the steel truss railway bridge crossing Sungei Ulu Pandan. It was once part of the Jurong KTMB Railway Line which was constructed to facilitate the transportation of manufactured products from Jurong to Malaysia, and raw materials from Malaysia to the industrial estate at Jurong. Construction of the railway began in 1963, and the first train ran in 1966. The Jurong section of the railway remained in use for the next four decades until its closure in the early 1990s. Today, the disused track continues to attract much interest from the public, especially people with a taste for history, nature and photography.

Hi fellow Discoverers. This is Alan from Discovery Walking Tours TV. Happy to be back Singapore to do more filming. As always do use a pair of headphones for an immersive experience as I used binaural microphones to record the ambient sounds. If you notice any interesting points in the video, comment with a time stamp (eg 00:01) and I will be sure to check it out. Hi Bro, Thank you for sharing this wonderful video and the footage from the high rise block is stunning and beautiful. @0:38....sits a cobbler named Paul. Highly recommended and his stitch-work is excellent! Was scrutinizing the ppl at the Hawker Centre for some familiar faces but none. Whoa, the queue at the fried carrot stall, never ends! Hahaha!!!

@@DiscoveryWalkingToursTV Hi Bro, Thanks for your reply. Have not been home so, have not seen Paul since 2015! He is a nice man. Chicken Curry Hotpot at the Hawker Centre ......must be new as I'm not aware of it. Thrre're a numbrr of good stalls like the porridge stall, wantan noodle, and the economic rice next to the Soya Bean Stall. They are very popular and long queue too during peak hours. The high rise buildings around Clementi Central does make a difference after viewing your footage. Awesime and thanks again. Take csre and warmest regards to you.

We all know the Success that is Singapore, but through your works of artistic technique and soulful strategy, that Success ascends into realm of awareness, and becomes clear all laymen to see with humble eyes. You have brought this country to masses, the ordinary folks of the world, and for that I must pray for continued Success and works of similar quality nature.

Maybe many local people can speak two or three kind of languages.Which language do you mostly use? For Chinese people,is that most Singapore young generation speak English not 华语?

I use English in my daily activities in Singapore. My second language is Mandarin and I use it sparingly. I think its not just the younger generation, even the older folks (seniors in their 60s) use English to communicate
