@@EricFortuneJr. yeah but at what cost? Now he's in his 50s, drowning in hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt in student loans. He will probably never be able to retire, and will most likely have to work for the rest of his life to pay it off. And odds are that he will probably die, before he can fully pay it off. He most likely won't open his own firm, and won't get high profile cases. But hey, he's a lawyer. Yay!

@@I_WANT_MY_SLAW Not necessarily, depends on how he funded everything. I couldn't agree more obviously SOCIOeconomic status played the BIGGEST role in why he decided to be a mechanic before finally becoming a doctor for so long, I have never heard the same sort of story play out like this in any other shade. He beat the ODDS which yet again is supported by STATISTICAL data and ended up making news and this story became a LARGER story because of his background Cleveland itself is a very AFRICAN ( as in the race African is a race.) area just look at it!

@@ashleighnunez5532 poverty is relative lol but I understand what you're saying. I didnt grow up poor and funnily enough, where I come from, powdered milk was the reserve of wealthier middle class families (because it had to be imported and was therefore expensive and could only be purchased from one of the five supermarkets we had in our city). We always had it at home, but whenever I visited less well off relatives, it was kept under lock and key and rationed only in the morning on the special ocassions when we were given cereal to eat lol. Good times. One man's sign of poverty is another's sign of upward mobility

That will give you a certain maturity in the way you pursue your studies and a certain degree of confidence when you start practicing. That, in turn, will inspire a sense confidence in you from the people who come to you as patients. Don’t look BACK on the opportunities you missed. Look FORWARD to the blessings that lie ahead of you. And be glad you live in a country where you CAN go for advanced education at an advanced age. May you and your dreams be blessed.🙏

There's a lot of great scientists and Technology people wasting their time because they don't have access and the money to obtain the higher education. It's a part of that whole in a quality debate they have. Tyra Renae I think it's fantastic that he achieved becoming a Dr. However, there would need to be a lot more to it to make a movie worth watching! A lot of us grew up poor and remember government cheese. Myself included. There are movies out there that are much like this man's story. Homeless to Harvard being one. There are only so many you can watch before it becomes boring.

When I decided to go to medical school the naysayers said something similar to me. They said in 9yrs I’d be 55yrs old. I was like OK, how old would I be in 9yrs if I did go medical school? Don’t let no one talk you out of your dream.

Very inspiring and really gave me a great reminder of my grandmother. My Grandma was a teacher for over 30 years. And during the 30 years she was teaching elementary school she never gave up and eventually finished her Bachelor's Degree when she was in her mid 50's. Age doesnt matter.... we all have to start somewhere.

Amazing man! Not only did he follow his dreams but what an example he provided for his children. Never complained about his situation, became a damn good mechanic while still wanting to pursue another career path. Folks like him are a very rare breed, there is so much to learn from a person of such character. His mechanical expertise will assist him in diagnosing his patients. Congratulations kind Sir, I wish you well and I’m sure you already are an awesome Doctor. God Bless you and your family!
