Clever Girl Finance’s Bola Sokunbi had some serious financial influence from her parents. Her father would tell her “Don’t be penny wise and pound foolish” while her mom showed her the importance of being an independent woman who could financially stand on her own. They both influenced her to become the financial author, mentor, and teacher she is today with Clever Girl Finance.
Bola split her youth between Europe and Africa, and when given the chance to go to college back in Europe, her mom cashed out her retirement savings to give her daughter the gift of education. Bola worked through college and graduated with zero debt! She then went on to live in New York City, making $54,000 a year at her first job, which to her, was like getting a million dollars!
Now, Bola has a business pulling in six figures every month! She teaches women how they can start investing, have financial confidence, and live life on their terms.

54:50: I like Bola's statement " be mindful of who they share their goals with"!! ❤ that!!So so true!!! Not everyone is meant to ride along in your journey. " keep your goals close to your heart". Let go of the dream killers.

I follow Clever Girl Finance but to hear this personal side of Bola is absolutely amazing! She is such an inspiration to me personally! I would do anything to have a phone conversation with her. I am a newer entrepreneur, single mom of five kids, and the struggle is real! This has been the best interview I’ve listened to on KZfaq ever! Thank you so much for presenting her! 🙏

I am starting a financial channel to start getting young families educated in finances and I stumbled on to Bola's channel. I loved her content and presentation right away. Then I found your channel and by chance you had Bola on as your guest. What a dynamic duo you both presented. Following you both as my mentors.

Just came across this interview. This was truly Inspirational. Hat's off to Bola's parents for those early lessons on attaining a good education, being the best she can be, overall hard work and focus. I love that she's frugal and mindful of how she spent her money, and created her side hustle. Kudos 👏🏿 💐

At first her story didn’t seem amazing or it didn’t stand out because she didn’t speak about the nuance but then I realized that was the gem. Her MINDSET made the story sound that way because to her this was normal and the only path. Her discipline and foresight in not only finance but mate selection as well. She did what she had to in order to protect her and her family’s future. Just amazing.

Her father was a PhD and an econometrician so I don’t think the intro that she had no access to finance knowledge is accurate.

Most six figure earners and Drs have no knowledge of finance management. The fact that you have money doesn't mean you know how to keep it.

don't read race into everything; colonial masters and slave traders were whites who took advantage of Africans, they told them close your eyes and let's pray, by the time they open their eyes, their lands, properties and arts were gone.
