Having a good sound is not all it takes. Stage presence is a big part of it. And he sounded ok, but not great. When you go to these, you have to have a certain level of uniqueness. And not talking about a plastic mic, but in your voice. Don’t go and sound like someone else because these judges hear so much talent that you have to be outstanding in some way.

@@suzanneroche1243 I would say yes to that… But, Susan Boyle taught us all a lesson. So, I’ll say yes and no. But, these are staged. I’ve done these auditions and the few times I made it to ‘REAL’ auditions, you have to go through 2-4 pre auditions with different judges, so the main judges don’t have to see everyone. And I only know because I once made it to pre-round 4. They purposely picked some of the real bad ones just to make the process less tedious. And adding a little bit of ‘funny’ is part of the process. It’s so mean. And last time I tried was in 2004. I’m too old now. 😄 So, I no longer do any of these. But, once I was older, I got to be one of the judges for pre-auditions because I’m a better vocal coach than I was ever a singer. 🎤

@@lucycarola I know how everyone in show biz is judged by their looks! I know this as a former up and down weight loss person. There was such a difference in how I was treated usually on the job. It’s sickening! If you’re 40 lbs too big you can forget getting a better job and a raise or invited to a party, date, or anywhere except possibly a drive-in movie! By the way, it’s not equal. Men can have big fat beer bellies and no one says a negative word about them! It makes me so mad I’ve dropped out of all that BS!

It took a second listen, he could carry a tune, but his tonality wasn't amazing, if he had been on one of those teach them to sing better shows, he would have gotten in. His talent was raw and they needed a finished product.
