Just two centuries ago, in France it was thought that one way to punish people considered debtors should be prison. It was in an old building located on Clichy Street where this system began to be implemented. People angry with debtors could have them imprisoned on the condition that they pay the expenses necessary to keep them there. Inside the prison, businesses began to flourish and with them the fascinating stories of an unconventional place.
