I've actually been on the caledonian sleeper myself recently. Luckily, we were able to book the club double with the double bed and it was the best night sleep outside of my own bad I had in a very long time. The cabins are small, but that's with every sleeper train. You can't compare it to a hotel. But as Taz said, you safe energy on a potentially very long journey when you can sleep like that and arrive at your destination refreshed. I'd do it again in a heart beat!

I love travelling by train, whether I've got my own room with bed and all or if I'm in a cramped seat surrounded by strangers. Idk, it's just something peaceful about trains for me. Same goes for the bus. Which is weird 'cause haha anxiety and all

That's nice! Sharing mine, compared to yours, I like traveling through boats/ferry instead idk it just calms me and is very peaceful. I remembered a month before covid lockdown happened, I always rode the ferry boat from school going to my house and seeing the tall buildings and the daily lives of the people on a different perspective was very interesting.

I'm russian and live in two cities at the same time, so i have to travel by train a lot(it's an 8-9 hour ride each time). And this experience is a way more luxurious version of what i go through... Seeing Taz's reaction is adorable but like, my god, why does it cost so much-

Her reaction is so ridculous. The part where so complains about the shower for 2 whole minutes becuase of the angle and having to press a button....my God it screams being priviledged and living in a western bubble. she would be better of doing the Trans siberian than this overpriced crap for a better experience. The train time usually is 5 hours during the day but the night trians goes has to go very slowly. The crazy thing is she complained about no mountains but didn't do the entire journey on the sleeper to inverness that actualy takes you through the incredibe scottish mountains but got off at the 1st stop in Scotland and missed out on the Scottish highland.

Why is the “luxury” train hotel smaller than when I went on a overnight train in Europe (I forgot where exactly I went but it’s either london to Paris or Paris to Rome)
@dankjae

Trains in the UK are smaller width and height wise than in Continental Europe due to the country’s Victorian loading gauge, i.e. tunnels smaller, bridges lower and platforms at a different height.

Damn, I wish I had something like this when I went to Gdansk a few weeks ago :D We wanted to book a bed in a sleeper carriage but unfortunately, they were all sold out so we ended up just staying in our seats in a cramped coupe (me, my friend and four strangers) for about 10 hours... Shortly after midnight we all collectively decided to just fuck it, took our shoes off and forgot about personal space. I am pretty sure that at some point a guy was sleeping at my shoulder, my feet were dangerously close to the butt of another guy, my friend's feet were in my lap and I was basically lying on my friend. Still an amazing adventure though :D

I'm a pretty big guy and I still think I could make that cabin work out. Even the shower unit. I think the biggest mistake you made was lugging around a huge hard shell check-in size luggage bag. A carry-on sized one would be enough for me (then again I am a dude so I probably bring less stuff) or if need be maybe a backpacker's style bag? Basically something more squishy so you can shove it into tight spaces a tad easier.

Good thing I hate traveling to start with but I pity the big people that love traveling and can't because they can't fit the seats, corridors and other spaces. Also what about people in wheelchairs?
