The privileged owner of this piece, and a stunning piece of wall art. Andy’s knowledge of the wood and artistry is impeccable. Without his skills the timber would have been trashed, it now stays with the family. Thank you

Finally someone who points out what so many resin haters fail to take into account... it allows you to use timber that would otherwise end up in the chipper, landfill or burn pile. Not to mention, it actually takes more time to turn defect-laden material into something usable

Love the use of resin, don't understand why someone would be offended. Great table

I’ve done a resin pour for a headboard of a bed with old burly oak. The piece I had was visually beautiful but as you noted the peace was not structurally sound. So yes resin has its pride of place with furniture…. There are options with steel as well but sometimes resin is the only option. Love your videos and as a DIY’er I’ve learnt everything I know about this process from your content. So thank you so much !🙏

Hi Andy, Have you never fancied trying one of the Trend Air shield masks for protection from the fine dust.

What are the benifits to keeping the resin as a liquide for days at a time after pouring. I totally agree with you about being able to use waste wood and resin to make a beautiful piece of furniture. Even if it was a decent slab being used someone is going to enjoy the creation for years to come and once finished with it the slab can the be cut to size for another project.

Thx , Main reason is no heat generated so zero moisture is drawn from the slab, and zero bubbles 👍

Beautiful Andy once again!!! Quick question if you use ceramic coating over food safe finish is it still food safe with the ceramic coating? Hope that makes sense. Thanks, have a great week..🍻😎

Ceramic is not food safe , but it’s a micro layer , the main thing about the oil being food safe is for me applying it really , or maybe if you used it on a chopping board …. Really

howdy! why do you not use a mask when mixing/pouring the resin? is it some special type that does not give off fumes? thanks!

To clarify: My comments about (against) resin weren’t that it “isn’t wood-working”, it’s that that stuff produces massive amounts of hazardous waste, both during initial production as well as “at the end of the piece’s life”. Additionally you personally risk your own health by breathing in resin dust and developing skin allergies. It might not “look cool” but you should really wear personal protection equipment.

I’ll follow up on the amount of waste produced from creating a table this size, to put it In perspective I have a Sawdust bracket press. I will press all the waste from this project ,

You are an artist so it's not woodworking, it's art. You take a slab of wood and turn it into something beautiful. I remember you saying a few years ago about seeing an oak tree cut down and immediately chipped for bio fuel. What a waste.
