Condolences to the family, but... that's a darwin award won through and through. Inexperienced swimmer. Already a bad idea before adding in cliff diving. Signs all around saying not to do it. Does it anyways. That's a darwin award.

Every year. It's the same thing over and over again. With less and less regard for rules, I can only see the problem get worse.

This is a real treacherous place to swim. Its not the submerged rocks that are always the problem. Rather the powerful swirls and current of that section of the Lynn can pin you against the jagged rocks and walls, making it virtually impossible to surface on your own strength. Even strong swimmers have died there. If the victim here was submerged under water for 30 minutes, it sounds likely that he found himself trapped/pushed against a wall. Horrific way to die. There are lots of clear, bold signs at that area but stupidity and over-confidence prevail, all too often. Citizens of North Van; this is where your municipal taxes are being spent; search and rescue teams are expensive. better to install cameras to monitor that location near the suspension bridge, and charge heavy fines for anyone choosing to cross the fence and swim there.

I grew up there. Before there was a 7-11. Practically lived in that Canyon, jumped and swam from Halls Pools to Blue Pools. Every jump at Twin Falls from the Bridge to Suicide 100's of times.

Another example proving that you can't fix stupid.

I grew up just down the road from the entrance to this park and all summer long it sirens and ambulance. Usually it tourists who jump wrong or don't get how cold the water is. . The worse death in the park happened when I was a kid. She was sunbathing and rock fell on her and squished her. There is a plaque on a rock when u enter the stairs going down to the suspension bridge.

Deeply unfortunate. Sometimes jumping off that cliff you really want to jump off isn't a great idea.
