Side note: I love the Snob's more appreciative, upbeat tone these days. It's clear you actually love and enjoy these films - the more giddy energy is infectious and makes me feel excited to watch these films again (or for the first time).

It's like a twisted version of Francis Ford Coppola's Jack (1996), but they cut out the stuff about a disease that makes the kid age faster.

My favorite moment in Clifford is when Grodan looks at Short and asks him if for five minutes he can act like a normal child and Short absolutely can't do it

As much fun as this film was to me when I first watched it years ago, it's made me come up with a theory: What if the character of Clifford himself wasn't actually 10 years old? Instead, he's a 40-year-old who just recovered from a 30 year coma after a harsh run-in with some bullies, so he still thinks he's 10 with an obsession for dinosaurs, which he perceives as figures of strength and evolutionary dominance? And his "uncle" Martin is actually his brother who tried to move on and forget about the coma? I'm sure the movie would have ended a whole lot differently, if not better, when Martin reveals the truth to Clifford.

I remember seeing this being rerun on Comedy Central all the time and just thinking how bizarre it was.

I just found out that Charles Grodin died. Crap! He looked great for his age. He was almost 60 when he did beethoven but he looked like he was in his 40s. RiP such an amazing actor.

A wonderful tribute to the late Charles Grodin. However, the highlight of the video has to be Snob’s mugshot for the Exxxotica Convention.

I honestly never knew the actors name in Beethoven, Charles Grodin. I loved his deadpan humor and his, "I want to kill" look. I think Ill have to watch this movie soon.

Man oh man, I loved this movie as a teenager, watching it countless times on Comedy Central. I didn't know if it would hold up, but I caught it on Tubi a few years back....just as good as I remembered.

I just remember being severely creeped out by Martin Short in this. Like he was a creep pretending to be a kid to prey on them (the priest part doesn't help AT ALL) and Grodin was deep down a hero trying to out him and save future kids from him.

Aw man, I miss dark comedies where the "villain" is a regular grumpy guy who just loses his fucking mind. The early '90s were full of those and nobody seemed to like them then, but now they're all pretty much revered.

I completely forgot this movie existed and now the clips are triggering memories. I had this taped from a movie channel as a kid and must have watched it over a hundred times. Grodin is indeed a treasure.

I remember watching him and Lettermen going at it. Even though I knew Charles was joking, he made me think he wasn't. Only Andy Kaufman could pull off the same thing. The beauty of these two men was that they made you doubt yourself, which then made you buy into the characters they created.

I can't lie, I didn't love this film when I first saw it in the theater, but as an adult rewatching it I can say it has a lot of charm. Just a Great cast and you can't undersell how well Short and Grodin play off each other. RIP Charles Grodin ... My spell corrector keeps trying to change "Grodin" to "grow in"

The reason U needed an adult to play Clifford is, it wouldn’t look right watching Grodin smack and punish a real 10 year old

Heart and Souls was my favorite Grodin film. Him and Robert Downey Jr were amazing in it.

TCM showed this for the virtual film festival (Ben Mankiewicz is now in love with Clifford) and suddenly I am seeing it everywhere

Clifford in the thumbnail reminds me of Salazar from Resident Evil 4 especially since they look older than their actual age.

This is the kind of obscure shit that makes me love Brad! I saw this movie once or twice on HBO probably 25 years ago and completely forgot about it until right now. It was so weird it must have been memorable though , because I instantly remembered it upon seeing the thumbnail. It's also nice to see that someone shares my love for Charles Grodin. Great episode brad!!

My main familiarity with Grodin were the first two Beethovens, and as the villain in The Great Muppet Capper, that later of which had one of my favorite meta jokes of any Muppet film: "Why Am I Doing This?" "Because I'm A Villain! It's Pure and Simple!"

This underrated film deserves to get a Collector's Edition Blu-Ray by Shout! Factory, with special features including interviews with the Cast & Crew and a HD Remaster of the Extended TV Cut (and yes, there was a longer cut that they used to show in the Disney Channel).

I like to think of him as a “that guy” of film. I don’t have much exposure to his films, but I do remember this one. Also, the house in the film was also used in House II: The Second Story.

Caught this by chance last year, what a happy accident! The 90's had a knack for mean-spirited dark comedies! :D

This is one of those movies I vaguely remembered seeing and couldn't think the name of until this review.

I seen this movie when it came out, seen it tons of times, and have always loved it. It's so freaking odd and funny at the same time.

One of my favorite comedy troupes was a group called “Oh Theodora”- a line Richard Kind said in this very movie. When I found out it was a Clifford reference, that just made me respect them a lot more.

I never did grow up watching the 90s family movies and looking back it was a really weird time and dark time for "family" movies from that era. This movie does a good example of them.

This movie mystified me, but I will say Short and Grodin were phenomenal in it! They held the screen like few actors since, together or in solo scenes.

I grew up all the better for having found a copy of this movie on a hastily labeled VHS cassette. It was well enjoyed by all of my family.

I firmly believe that this movie is what inspired that Stuart character from MAD TV.

This came out on VHS when I was 10 & I rented it at least 10 times. I thought it was the funniest movie at the time.

Funny thing, it wasn't until recently that I realized the same actor who played the uncle in this film and the dad in the BEETHOVEN movies was the same guy who played Fred Wilson in the 1976 KING KONG.

This movie is honestly a favorite of mine, and it's been one I revisit often. I find this sort of early-90s camp (including DROP DEAD FRED) to have been a major influence on me, and totally something I obsessed over as an actual kid (where I likely RELATED to Clifford!) It's just top-notch comedic acting back to back, even though panned.

I love this movie, I don't care who knows it!
