Climate Change: A Defining Challenge for the 21st Century? by Dame Julia Slingo FRS
This lecture examines the scientific evidence for climate change describing how simulations of the Earths weather and climate are constructed and how these can be used to make assessments of what our climate and weather might be like in the coming decades.
Based on this scientific evidence it will be argued that climate change may well be one of the defining challenges of the twenty-first century, and that how we respond will determine our future prosperity, health and well-being and the sustainability of Earths natural environment.
This lecture is the Sir Thomas Gresham Annual Lecture 2018.

I commend Dame Julia Slingo for doing a fabulous job of explaining a complex science of modeling in terms that most of us can understand. If each of us can commit to sharing this lucid exposition with our friends and relatives we can create a momentum for concerted action at an accelerated speed. We owe it to posterity to make that happen.

Climate protection is human protection! The lecture is a plea to keep this earth habitable for mankind. The causal chain of effects on global warming and the terrific speed are described in an understandable way. Many Thanks !

Before 2010 when NASA scientist understand the climate and removed real physics from their website and became corrupted with the same nonsense that Slingo is promoting, it said in an article: "the Sun drives almost every aspect of our world’s climate system and makes possible life as we know it." and "Other important forcings of Earth’s climate system include such “variables” as clouds, airborne particulate matter, and surface brightness. Each of these varying features of Earth’s environment has the capacity to exceed the warming influence of greenhouse gases and cause our world to cool."

What a load of old twaddle. The models are not simulators. The Met Office will not make a prediction of weather more than 30 day ahead and yet they expect us to believe they can predict years ahead. What she fails to say is that the equations based on the laws of physics cannot be solved. Computers cannot produce the answers because the initial conditions are vital to the prediction and they are not known. Try looking at the KZfaq video - Believing Six Impossible Things before Breakfast, and Climate Models. Christopher Essex - a man who knows about mathematic models.
