Johan - have you read Jensen, et al… Bright Green Lies? Catton’s Overshoot? Familiar with the second law of thermodynamics? There is ZERO possibility we are going to tech our way out of what we tech’d ourselves into. I admire your work on ocean circulation (particularly regarding he AMOC) , and I admire your advocacy over decades to try to bring our situation into daylight, in an environment that has favored shadow…. But let’s be real… Wally Broecker was. and he was more instrumental in ocean circulation than you. Don’t go Michael Mann on us… I’ve watched you for over a decade, and appreciate what you’ve done to bring awareness to this issue. I recognize the reasoning behind Mann’s protestations that “doomerism” roughly équilibrâtes with denialism, insofar as it permits (encourages?) inactivism and, therefore, is a active evil. I just don’t happen to agree

That the “developed” countries, which are subsidizing the fossil fuel industry to the tune of 5.9 TRILLION dollars per annum (year) can’t (won’t!) meet their pledge of 100 Billion (! Not trillion! Note that $100 billion is less than 0.6% of current annual fossil fuel subsidies) says all anyone need know about how the system currently functions, in whose favor it functions, and whether we have any Hope (NONE!) of meeting the aspirational goals set by these GREENWASHING global meetings. Sharm el Sheik? Really? The next global COP to be held in a country notorious for repression… hmmm. Bodes about as well for our future as every other COP (not well)
