The Diamond is the sheer, vertical, intimidating East Face of Longs Peak. Perched at almost 14,000 feet, solid granite and beautiful climbs make it one of the most famous walls in America. On Aug 27, Sam Dorsey and I had an amazing time scaling the awesome wall.

WOW...that was scary, beautiful, scary, exhilarating, I hang on tight for every climb. The helmet cam is cool and scary, it disorientates me in a woozy kind of way. Your lunch restaurant had an excellent view (wish I could have made it:) but I did{= lol =} thank you, I always enjoy your videos.

Awesome climb dude! I want to hit it maybe next season. Been climbing 5.8s trad. Hopefully I'll be ready. How's the crux? Can you think of any routes/linkups to train for in the front range? What gopro settings do you use? Wide angle? Thx
@AdventuresToTheMax
@AdventuresToTheMax 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The crux is not too bad technically, but the altitude and fatigue can make the overall effort of that pitch feel pretty tough. I’d recommend being solid on 5.10 trad. If you can onsight 10’s on gear, your day will be much nicer and quicker up there. Outer Space and Yellow Spur in Eldo are good training climbs, but they feel easier and are much shorter than the Diamond. Linking both of those routes would be a good training for the Casual route. Hand cracker direct to Yellow Spur to Outer Space is another good linkup. Good luck and have fun!

I was summit around 845-930 not entirely sure because I had broken my phone lol. I had just got to the rock field When the hail hit. I think I remember seeing you guys get to the base of the diamond before sunrise... you got nerves of steel guys, I RAN from the rock field far past chasm lake to about the river crossing all in the hail. Now that I consider though, if I had chosen to reascend to the hut, It was me runnin with the storm that kept me in it so long 🤦🏼‍♂️. I hate being above the tree line when that weather comes though. Congratulations again my first 14 was bierstadt loooool

Epic Screen name Haha ya that would’ve been us rapping the cables route down to the boulder field right when the storm hit. What a coincidence! I love Longs Peak. Bierstadt was also my first... years ago!
