Lowering PSA is only half the battle. The other half is keeping it low. Thru radiation, hormone therapy, and chemotherapy, I got my PSA down to 0.88. Now it is 17.69.

The doctors, radiologist and oncologist made gobs of money though. As did the medical establishment... at your expense in pain, loss of productivity and change of lifestyle. One wonders how different the outcome would be, if car-t was used at the outset, before it need make someone deathly ill because the disease has been spread by biopsy?

Car-t is no more expensive than any other if you factor in the continued costs (profit) of treatment.

It's still in a phase I trial, so nobody knows yet how effective it will be or for how long, or how much it will cost exactly. Dr. Scholz is saying it is expensive because it currently requires two weeks of hospitalization, which is very expensive (in addition to the treatment itself) but nobody knows yet how much the treatment itself will cost or how its efficacy will compare to existing treatments. We are all hoping for good results!

@@ThePCRI My uncle died needing a bypass... five years before stents became widely available. I wonder if this will be the same.

Let's hope not. There are clinical trials recruiting, for example, www.clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT03873805?term=CAR+T-CELL&cond=Prostate+cancer&cntry=US&draw=2&rank=1. We all know that stents are effective now and how to use them, but again, we still do not know the optimal dosing for CAR T-cell therapy, how effective it will be in what percentage of men or for how long, etc, and that is why these trials are conducted.
