My 18 month daughter developed post covid-19 acute cerebellits, one day got up and kept falling backwards and unable to sit. I was amazed that I could recognize cerebellar signs in a 18months who couldn't communicate. Later when she improved had high stepping gait too, used to look at her fwets while walking.. Was so funny. She improved withing 4 days without treatment, most kids with Acute viral cerebellits do, most common. No extra workup needed if not worsening.

Hello, I have/had Chiari Malformation, and I had the decompression surgery in December of 2020. My home health physical therapist said that I have ataxia, but he didn't specify what kind, and that was about 2 years ago. I use a walker to get around. I can walk, but only if I have a couple of people on each side of me. I have always wondered if Chiari Malformation can lead to ataxia, and I also have a paralyzed vocal chord. Your help is greatly appreciated.😊

Thank you for great lecture. Could you clarify one point for me, in the video you mention that the sensory info goes from peripheral nerve --> DRG --> into dorsal column then up via spinocerebellar tract to the cerebellum. I was under impression that the dorsal column and spinocerebellar tract are two separate entities with the spinocerebellar tract residing in the lateral aspect of spinal cord, is that not the case?

Can there be a cause of sensory ataxia from above the cerebellum? if the cortical fibers or white matter containing sensory nerves are damaged by a contusion can it be called sensory ataxia? What is cerebral ataxia?
