No changes. It's a repeat script from Lille in French Ligue 1 after the 2022 WC. Jonathan David scores and takes one step forward. Tim Weah doesn't score and takes one step back. Tim Weah is done and will be packing back to Juventus just like when he left Lille.

Also, you have to beat us by a landslide since Panama will surely beat Bolivia and they will have a better goal difference. The difference is that in Rio de la Plata we have played soccer since we were kids (I have been playing since I was 4 for example), and in addition to playing, we are taught to play rough and we play on fields that don't even have grass, while in the United States it is a "girls'" sport and they always had Mexico as a reference, which to be realistic is a low-level team compared to CONMEBOL. With all due respect from Uruguay, good luck

This is the same Panamian team that Canada pulled apart 4-1 just a few months ago and there was absolutely no reason to put on another defender and sit back. That was just tactically naive, which Berhalter is. American coaches, in general, keep looking poor compared to guys like Wilfried Nancy, because they're all from the US college game, they think all they need to teach is traps and triggers. They're tactically disonnected and undisciplined, and technically sloppy.

Gregg Berthalter should have never come back, and I don't know why anyone is surprised by this! Berhalter constantly makes terrible decisions and can't manage a game with substitutions or tactics. Interestingly enough, I believe it is a usual and growing trend with democracies (or maybe a charachteristic of it). We think we have institutions to put the best ones or at least the capable ones in positions of power, but in reality is nothing like that. In reality, nepotism, lobbying, inheritance, speculation, greed and self interest end up deciding who holds the reigns. There are so many filters to access power in the name of freedom, that it ends up limiting you freedom , ironically. Im getting too philosophical. I think that coaching difference for next game is massive, US will have to super perform to get a result.

As a foreigner (Brit) looking at things from afar I would just like to give my opinion for what it's worth and no disrespect is intended. The main issue I see with US "soccer" players is you constantly churn out excellent athletes but they're not great technically, I don't know if it the fault of the University system or the grounding they receive as kids. Not saying none are technically gifted but it seems to take a distant second place to athletisim and that needs to change. Raw footballing ability should always be the main focus. GGs.

I'm Argentinian. It's great to see that finally this loss seems to hurt. You are awesome in basketball or American football, but soccer (as you call it) embraces all nations, and has the eyes of the world over it, mostly in tournaments like this or the World Cup, which will also happen in your land (and I'll be there for sure 🇦🇷). Soccer brings some nationalism and it's one of the most important sports in the world. Every big nation on this sport had important losses and you should learn from it and to be better next time. I think that the fact that you guys are angry now, is a good symptom for the future. Wish you the best against Uruguay ( they are one of our clásicos)

The American team could also have easily been the best for years on end in terms of the athletes we produce...the problem is in our country futbol is just not were the money is...our best athletes train for decades in other sports to make the best outcome financially for themselves. The rest of the soccer world thinks the US is nothing more than a bunch of mid players and we continue to be shocked with these results. Maybe it's time to face facts, the hype is greater than the talent. This is two HORRIFIC results in the last three contests and we still are shocked? I didn't get the subs tonight at all. What does Berhalter see in Cordoza and Vickers that no one else does? I'm can't recall a single moment where either of these two have done anything to warrant minutes. Gotta totally disagree with Clint and Alexi about Horvath letting that goal in. I'm not sure there is a goalie on this planet that makes that save. If the US Soccer Fed fires Gregg, I recommend a new type of coach for the USMNT. The new coach needs to be Young, Different, and one who has already achieved Top results on the international level. I nominate one of these 2 gentmen: - Hoalid Regragui: He played all 7 games in World Cup 2022 in his first participation ever. As Morocco Head coach (previously Wydad AC coach, most titled Moroccan Club) he controlled Croatia, bested Belgium and Canada in group stage. Then he defeated Spain and Portugal after that to reach the semifinals. Also won the Champions League of Africa with Wydad Athletic Club and several Titles with the same team and other Moroccan and Arab Gulf Clubs. He Tested and proved. - Houcine Ammouta (or: Hoseen Amota), as head coach of the Jordanian National Team he played the Asia Nations Cup Final, this was that teams first ever Final. This coach mutch like Regragui (but they have different styles of play, same Realism though) achieved many titles with Wydad AC and other Clubs, won Africa Club Champions League and Africa Nations League. He also coached in the Arab Gulf club level and in one of those Clubs he coached the Spanish international Xavi. Suffice to say, these two gentlemen will bring a breath of fresh air to US Soccer. You need a winning coach that hates losing (both do) but from a different continent. We can say the know how to defeat African or European National teams (Regragui European + Amota African).. You have to accept that the Culture matters in Soccer and if you bring a Coach that knows how to defeat opponents based on knowing their cultures well, then you will be smarter as a Federation. We notice that the USMNT has difficulty with both European and African teams, so depending on what group you will be in in 2026, one of these gentlemen will be a great help. I don't think either will accept a position of assistant, as both have already succeeded as Head Coaches. The US Soccer Fed needs to start thinking differently, the USMNT needs a New but realistic experience with a young successful Coach. Use Regragui or Amota as a model for what you're looking for and stop f*cking things up based on what your desire is. YOU NEED TO BE REALISTIC You do have great players, but they lack guidance. They lack soccer maturity on the collective end of thins, defense or offense. They lack the credibility in terms of defeating good team they don't know well. and lack other things But all these things can be fixed within 12 months and there are soccer experts in the domain of coaching who will assure you they can fix them. YOU NEED TO REPLY ON WHAT THEY ACHIEVED AS RESULTS NOT WHAT THEY SAY. In a relating story, the prior Moroccan head coach Halilozitch who had the position before Hoalid Regragui, told the Moroccan Fans after Morocco lost to the USMNT 3-0 in a Friendly, he said: You keep asking me to do better in friendlies and in the world cup, but your team isn't good enough to reach this level. The reaction of the Moroccan Federation was to fire him, and replace him with Wydad AC head coach at the time Hoalid Regragui. The rest is history as the Moroccan side reached semi-final in WC 2022 The Lesson is, Soccer National Feds can make mistakes but also can make correct decisions. Regragui or Amota are the type of coaches who have already proved themselves on the result side of things, but are Young and Ambitious. Stop hiring coaches for the USMNT on the basis of whom you like, especially when they haven't achieved anything before hiring them. And start hiring on the basis of Coach's personal Ambition and Results. US Fans like Results more than anything else. In case Gregg loses against Uruguay (he can win if he does the right things) the USSF needs to be courageous and replace him with someone DIFFERENT but proven winner. You can hire from the MLS, but in the MLS you don't have the international challenges we see, COPA America is a real Competition and very very good for US Soccer as a whole. Watch the Euro Watch the Africa Nations Cup Watch the Asia Nations Cup Because your next opponent in the World Cup will come from one of these Schools of soccer And you need to have continuous conversations with USMNT former players especially the retired ones based on how many titles they won with their clubs or the national team.. These conversations will help the USSF have a realistic overall view on the USMNT * The same errors keep reoccurring on the USMNT, means the USSF isn't doing its Job.

If he does the right things he's likely to lose anyways, when you face such a strong team your chances of winning are really low, you should take a draw.

As a panamanian... Even though we won and are really happy about it, in a cold head... I found weird that us didn't handle the game better. What i mean is panama has 4-6 injured... And we don't have a long bench... But i would think us does, as it has shown great level of players in the last years. It was confusing to think "so are you telling me that US has only one team? With all those players abroad?" I remember when i was a kid... My dad had a saying "brasil has so many players that they could have 4 winning teams...the bench of the bench could win 3-0 against most teams"... We in panama have 1 team with some bench, but not 2 or 3 teams. I would think us would have

If they can’t beat teams like Panama at home regardless of what happened , how are they supposed to come out and compete at the World Cup against stronger competition?

Panama has beaten the US before. Panama also played with their B team. 5 of their starters are on the injury list.

Lalas would deport the Panama team prior to the game. That is how he would win the game.
