@@CIRCUITDRIVERCARS This is going to be a project for the summer. Ideally, I'd want the OEM Recaro GTI seats, but they are really rare and expensive to find in Canada. So I'm considering the Corbeau seats you have. I'd like to find a way to sit in them first though.

The Clio went a while ago, but we might well end up buying more for a new project. Great seats. 😊

John Lindsay I’ve got a spacer from Giacomo in Italy to bring it closer so will get that fitted shortly. The height is a less of an issue to me as I’ve got a weird long torso, not to say it couldn’t be improved upon slightly, but I think the spacer will do the trick. 👍

TheShaneosaurus perfectly comfortable buddy, the Clio has been sold now but I did numerous long journeys with no issue at all. I would happily buy them again for road/track. Mine had inflatable lumbar support for what it’s worth as I can suffer without out it. 👍

@@CIRCUITDRIVERCARS totally agree ! I did want sum rs4 b7 wingbacks but after removing my stock leather seats I thought no ! I need the corbeau rrs , similar look but a million kilos less haha

Matthew Gardner a chap called Giacomo makes them and sells via Cliosport and Clio197 forums. If you search for Giacomo RS spacer you should find it. They’re very well made and now fitted has made a huge difference. 🙌

Hey, it’s me again. :) And what about “lean-forward function”? (I don’t know how to say it right in English). Is it possible to use back seats when RRB is installed on the front? I’m thinking about to buy one RRB for myself and RRS for the passenger.

Dmytro Malykhin Hi again! We call it the tilt function I think, but I knew exactly what you meant! 👍 I just wound the seat upright forward with the adjustment knob, together with moving the seat forward on the runners this made enough room to access the rear, though you do lose a little room as the seats don’t tilt so far forward.

Cheers Mr. Tripod, I'll have a think about more of a review vid, good idea! I've driven lots of cars and really rate the 200 as a driver's car, it's not as comfortable and doesn't have as many mod-cons as some, but then it's an attainable hot hatch, so should be more about the drive than anything else. I'm sorry to report they aren't that reliable, my car has suffered the common exhaust manifold flexi failure, which cost about £500 to fix and futureproof. I fitted the suspension and top mounts partly as preventative maintenance as springs can crack and break and the top mounts fail. The gearbox synchros can also be a weak link and require a costly repair. Though I'm not sure if this is more a result of the way these cars tend to be driven and owners not heel and toeing to protect the synchros. More superficially, the steering wheel leather will be worn on most, I had mine retrimmed for £150 and the Recaro fabric wears if the car has them fitted. I'm sure any other similar cars will have their own common issues, but I would say the 'French car' reputation is deserved to a degree. If you can find a car that has has most of these things addressed, it could be a good buy. As a safer bet, the EP3 Civic might be an idea if insurance permits, though from a driving perspective they just don't sparkle like the Clio does...

I've got a soft spot for clios as my first car is a Clio and I've loved it, done a bit to it and looks and drives well. Shame to hear about the issues as I really do love these but maybe need to rethink. cheers

nuclear tripod the Clio197 forum is worth a look, lots of good information on there. I would say they’re worth the effort of sorting a few problems, and if you get one that’s already had the likely issues sorted you might well be fine. If you’re on a fairly tight budget I’d imagine the costs of sorting these problems could soon get tiresome though!

welz2002 😂 the problem with being a weird, long bodied freak! The Recaros sat high for most but with a helmet on I was scraping the headlining, even with the lowered mount!

Alex Welsh yes there was a nice weight saving, I’ve just turfed through a project thread I had for the car but didn’t write down the saving. Off the top of my head I think it was between 10-15kg saved.

Alex Welsh no worries Alex, enjoy! One thing to look into off the top of my head, can’t remember if I mention it in the vid is getting the seatbelt stalk so that it sits nicely and the lap belt can be tight against you lap. I’m quite small waisted so had to use a fabric stalked fastener from another car. 👍

RS3 FK honestly the RRBs are the better seat in both regards, there’s a significant weight saving with them and to me they were the comfier seat too! I did have the lumbar support added, but they’re not a hard or uncomfortable seat at all, even if the shape might suggest it. I say all this as a bit of a Recaro fanboy, I’ve still not found a more comfortable bucket seat than their SPG, so the Sportsters were a disappointment.
