Too funny. I grew up in Detroit in the 70's. A black family moved in across the street. Their son (who is a year older than me) and I would play catch in the street and hang out together. Richard Pryor was popular at the time and Eddie Murphy was arriving on the scene. Thought nothing of black/white 'relations' and all that PC crap. I even loaned a young black kid my bicycle to use for my paper route once. When I went to retrieve the bike, he was fixing the tire because it had a flat. Good people are just good people.

Because you are not supposed to think about that stuff, what we got backward nowadays. Race meant nothing as it should be, just people being people.

🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 Where in Detroit because at that time not only was there a mass exodus to the suburbs but severe redlining. Also, it wasn’t so much different “back then” as it was it just easier to ignore. Today you have to deal (or at least hear about those issues). Ignorance doesn’t stop them from existing.

The huge audience laugh at 1:12 is probably the moment when they realised they HAD to bring Chuck back. I think Tim even said that the main reason he became a regular was because the studio audience responded really well to him.

I’m a pretty left leaning guy, but I really like this show a lot. I can relate to this show since my uncles are all pretty conservative, so it kind of reminds me of how it used to be at their house. It’s also interesting to see something from another perspective, instead of some of the moral posturing that can happen in some left leaning shows.
@jakerogers84473 жыл бұрын
Well you would first need to ask yourself why you hate America in the consultation to be left-leaning
@ger55652 жыл бұрын
I'm the same left leaning, though far left annoy me just as much as far right. This show was funny as hell and even though it kind of annoyed me when it got overly political, in most cases it did a good job of showing both sides.

The people now pretending not to have preconceived notions about people they don’t know well are doing just that - PRETENDING. And shaming the people who are honest. Makes no sense to me. It’s much less racist to be honest, even if your honest feelings come from a place of ignorance.🤷♀️

You don't even need to be right-wing to love this show. It had a constant message that family and friends were far more important than your politics, religion, or opinion.
@thisisbrakspudonttouchit42086 жыл бұрын
I'm not attacking you but if you would watch all in the family it wasn't centered around a right-wing family it was centered around a man with conservative values and having them thrown in his face nearly every episode.
@frogsoda6 жыл бұрын
this is brak's pu don't touch it Archie Bunker was originally not intended to be the hero of that show. He was intended to be the butt of the all the jokes. Common Sense conservatism will always shine through liberal nonsense.
@thisisbrakspudonttouchit42086 жыл бұрын
frogsoda I agree with you but I would argue that Archie bunker as the butt of the joke made him loved by everyone an ultimately the star of the show. Just how Steve Urkel was supposed to be in one episode of family matters but every loved the little guy.

Seeing that an issue in the show was on this episode, I'm going to bring it up. Do you think Mike was being unfair about Eve wanting to quit Soccer? She was getting burnt out of it anyways which probably tells me that she was not liking it anymore and you shouldn't be forced to continue doing something that you don't like anymore, even if you are good at it because then you're going to resent it later in life. I especially love how Mandy the middle and not so bright child of the family put Mike in his place about not letting his kids quit; because he let Mandy quit things all the time and yet when Eve wants to quit soccer he acts like it the end of the world, he was making a big deal about Eve decision that he was not paying attention to Mandy good news about her auditioning for a solo in choir. I'm conservative too, but if my kids don't like a sport that they're doing despite that their good at it. I'm not going to let them continue if there not happy with it. Don't get me wrong I love the show, and I do like Tim Allen and his character and humor, hell I love Mike Baxter more than Ryan (never liked Ryan, don't know why, maybe it's always because he's in your face type of liberal), this is just one of the few times I couldn't agree with Mike.
