Whitney chose him under a strict record deal that she will only work directly with him and no one else. Other record company were just going to have her work with producers that are probably not known. Whitney had the foresight to make sure if she will be on top she has to work with people already there. She wants direct access to top management not lower tier. Outstanding interview! Mr Davis is correct! He is a business man and the entire reason she was a Star was her vocal ability! And most of the Biopics, Movies and Documentaries focus on her the environment and culture surrounding her and not on her vocal abilities! I would love to have seen more of studio life! Her rehearsal! Training sessions! The real! The parts about her vocal growth. Her voice on the Mervin Griffin show as she sang “Home” vs the Peak and Maturity of Voice over the years would have been interesting to watch! Her voice on the show was great! She had all the mechanics down (vocal control, pitch, tone, stage presence etc…). But after that show her voice grew into a massive powerhouse! Her chest and head voice became so strong and animated it was overwhelming!

She has a huge voice and lots of star quality but even today very few black artists that have great talent make it in the business in the scale that Whitney did. Whitney Houston was the best singer ever she had it all looks vocals a great performer she was what you call a total package Whitney grew up in a time when drugs wasn't bad most of them people in the music business would get high ever since they were a teenager drugs wasn't frowned upon us until 1984

Just left the movies forum watching this. I was kinda skeptical but I ended up loving it . I found myself singing a lot to every song and note count. Nippy was your around the way girl. I wish I could have met her. The melody she song in the end had me in tears.

Thank you for always guiding and keeping me and my family safe. Thank you for always giving me a chance to live despite of my sins. I am deeply sorry dear Lord for all the sins I've done to you. Whitney in her prime sung the big notes effortlessly, better than anyone around and obviously ever since. I think there was a time when she played around with the vocal gymnastics, just because she could and to have some fun. She is probably a once in 50 year singer. Nobody had the range and the power combined that she had. I'm glad Costner recommended the song, he knew what she and only she could do with it.
