If they sell the team, what will happen to their 6yr plan. There is no guarantee that the new owner will follow through with the plan and a new owner could plunge the Celtics into a time when they could be a team that never makes the playoffs. I was just thinking of how lucky we are to have the ownership group we have and then this news that they want to sell the team. It could go really bad or it could go really good. I hope its good.

Wyc Grousbeck will still be the Governor of the Celtics till at least 2028, and he's only selling his majority stake. The minority owners are going to stay. It's not going to affect Brad Stevens', Joe Mazzulla's, or the players' jobs. It's not as bad as you would think. Mark Cuban sold his majority stake but is still Governor of the Dallas Mavericks. So, it's going to be the same.

The Clippers can say it was about financial flexibility and blah blah, but really it was about not continuing to pay an exorbitant amount for a team that hasn’t done anything (positive) noteworthy since coming together 5yrs ago. Embarrassment has to come into play for some of these ultra wealthy owners - they look silly paying $200mil in tax for a team that gets bounced in the 1st or 2nd round. Celtics, however, just won the chip and winning adds value to a franchise. But they could be in a different position in 3-4yrs by the time Wyc is out

@@mangesh9034305 this…people are freaking out thinking it’s going to be John Henry and Fenway Sports Group, I’m guessing they don’t want to touch the size of the contracts, they want the Vegas franchise…this might wind up working better long run if we get a motivated buyer/group with even deeper pockets, Celtics are worth more if they are winning and no one will want to upset that applecart.

Shaq bought bills rings and still feels guilty about not playing well for the Celtics. And also told Forbes recently he want to buy any team available. He’d be way better than Henry or any other huge millionaire. Musk and Zuckerberg has previously shown interest in teams . One of those three could work. But definitely no Henry or a flipper. We got 3 years now to get 19 because I’d imagine we go entirely different direction when new owners get involved
