Crucial has now partnered with Acronis and offers a free version to be used with the Crucial SSD's. I have ordered a drive but not yet received it so I have to say I don't know if there will be any hiccups with the migration.

Dell Inspiron 15-3521 laptop. PNY 500 GB kit since it has the usb connector and link to the Acronis software. Remember after downloading, right click in Windows 10 on the downloaded .exe file and followed steps in the video. Thanks, Dale, for a very helpful video. .

I use acronis to make a clone in case a hard drive fails and also make weekly backups for the data. It is well worth the money and I have had to use the backups on two occasions. I clone the hard drive once a year and keep it in an empty bay in my desktop.

Thanks for the video. On acronis website on several KB articles they tell you to install the new/target disk in the laptop and usb connect the old disc to avoid boot issues with the new disk. You method is a lot easier, not having to futz with getting the laptop to boot off a USB drive to begin the clone process. Do you know if this is a difference between older versions of acronis and the acronis 2020 product? Long time user or acronis for backup but have not used the clone tool for ages.

Hey Dale, just a quick question for you. I just used Acronis to clone my laptop M.2 but after I installed the cloned drive I get a "Inaccessible boot device" and Windows will not boot? Can you give me any advise on why that may be?

I downloaded Acronis cloning software for the SABRENT HDD/USB enclosure I bought and am going to practice this cloning procedure on a Toshiba 500GB HDD that came out of my old Compaq laptop. It is exactly the same Brand and size to the one in my current working laptop, that is a ASUS X501A. I'm hoping that following your instructions will make this cloned disk bootable in my ASUS laptop. If that works well, then I plan to buy a 1TB SSD for my laptop and upgrade to that. I'm not 100% sure which SSD will work with my ASUS though. Do you think that a 1GB Crucial MX500 will work in this laptop. I'm just not very familiar with modern laptop 2.5" d rives so I don't know what 3D NAND or Gen 3 means. Any suggestions which drive will work for me. I'm considering a Crucial device or a PNY or something similar...

I am wondering if purchasing the sort of external SSD reader you demonstrate is better than fitting the 1tb empty SSD internally, your advise will be most helpful. Is this process any different for just cloning the storage drive? My computer has the OS on the C drive but I will be replacing/cloning the D drive. Do I just run the acronis clone in automatic mode then install the new drive and that's it? Idk why it would be different, but I'm a bit new to this

Did it with a lower end Toshiba, it didn't boot. Didn't create a restore disc before, didn't want to open it again, so planned to update the bios and by mistake I used Acronis to wipe my flash drive and killed it.

Nice video. I went to the link for the #0 Phillips Screwdriver Magnetic tip and the description doesn't state that it is magnetic. Also in the comments section people state that it isn't magnetic.

I have also just received my Crucial 1TB MX500 that I will be cloning from my Toshiba Satellite C50A 684 GB HDD. 2 questions: 1) Crucial has a free Acronis version I have downloaded as opposed to downloading WD...Have you ever tried Acronis for Crucial to do a Crucial SSD clone? 2) I am going to a bigger drive so should I use automatic, proportional or manual to set the partitions?
